Obama should lie to congress like Bush did when he said Iraq had WMDs, seems congress gives out more when there is emotion backed lies rather than to someone like Obama who is trying to make things better and gets rebuffed or has to settle with such a watered down bill that it isn't worth the paper it is written on....

There is certainly a lot of blame all around, both parties. Very generally speaking, it began under Pres. Carter and the Communities Reinvestment Act. That enabled the federal government to coerce banks into writing bad or toxic mortgages with threats of audits to push for low income home ownership. These mortgages were sold to two federally sponsored mortgage companies and resold to Wall St. with government backing. What the thieves in Wall St. did is bundle these toxic mortgages with prim mortgages and dumped them on the market. Of course, these low income people couldn't afford the mortgage and without a down payment requirement, they walked away from the house with no loss. That started the meltdown that effected the other people that bought over their heads anticipating the value of their homes would increase. They didn't have a down payment invested either and walked away.

A: That in no way sugests that ASIO had knowledge or that they were complicit in the fraud perpetrated by America on the war in Iraq if anything it states that they don't have the capability for the intelligence level that the CIA were claiming and which turned out to be lies of which we relied.....the truth is that information from ASIO about the lack of evidence of WNDS was ignored by the Government of the time because they chose to believe information being fed to them by the American intelligence agency..... American Democrats, e.g. Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry. Heck even Obama stated that Saddam was a brutal dictator that would have to be dealt with. Much like he did with Qaddafi and no congressional approval. A: There are many dictators that are brutal in the world....heck America does bussiness and trades with some of them, yet takes issues with others.....It is no ones job to interfere with the goverments of other countries of the world so they can replace them with democracy for our own ends, hell if that were the case we would be constantly at war and wouldn't that make us just as bad as they are....no let me guess it makes us fighters against tyrany and the up side is oil passage and wealth. Even a democracy must be kept in check and monitored to see that they don't cross the line into a totalitarianism....and that is what it looks like from a true democratic point of view...if you examine the reasons we enter things that we have no right to involve ourselves with.... Do you really think that the Democrats are the peace loving party? Look at who started most of the US' wars. They didn't have a down payment invested either and walked away. We have a different situation here that if you walk away from your home the bank can sell it for what they can get, and you have to pay the difference so it's a plus for America in that situation...where the homebuyer who has been fleeced can just walk away...but they have lost monies paid till that dayr, but are not left with a huge debt? Banks here have to have a sum of money to secure them in case of a crisis which can assist them in staying afloat if times get tough but not to tough...that is a good thing I think....In the cas of the Sub Prime Mortgage crisis there appeared no monotoring or auditing was going on to protect the consummer and this led as you say to them trying to control the housing market in what appears to be a giant ponzie scheme....There seems that no checks into banks and companies allowed them carte blanche to take unecessary risks and put pressure on peoples lives and threaten the stability of a nations finances... If anything has been learnt here for all countries it is that Banks and companies must have safeguards put into place along with the ability to enforce strong criminal penalties if you intend to deter the rogue and gambling mentality, methinks.

But, some states found themselves dependent on federal funds. I must say I like your system and the way that your President makes exec decissions and has the power to vito but nothing is perfect, as it was shown to fail you in the Iraqi situation where a war was agreed to because of a lie perpetrated by your security agency. Maybe it was because of the extreme emotional stress, anger or disbelief of 911 that nearly every journalist and American including the president and congress helped fuel that lie to make it believable ... There is a urgent need to prevent that happening again, something in place that can overide fear, anger and emotion dictating policy (under such extreme circumstances) that eventually lead to applying that pressure to the UN and your allies to support and assist you in an act of war, there should have been a fail safe for cooler heads to prevail. if that is at all possible.
