This is the perennial ALP excuse for their economic failure, every time - it was all the fault of the previous govt. It's wearing thin.<quoted text>
It obviously wasn't because Labour was in power in Australia, was it? Little old Australia's Government causing a US recession for up to 3 decades? They hardly even knew who we were until the mid-80's.

The melodrama naturally arises from your positions, Dee. To reduce all factors and motivations down to personal greed - ignores all the checks and balances that go into making and carrying government policy. He has to convince his party members, the public, he has to have the evidence. I'm interested to hear just how you imagine he is going to profit from this. It's not like Kev is an autocrat whom everyone hops according to his whims. |
"To reduce all factors and motivations down to personal greed" People are not one-dimensional. They usually have more than one reason for taking a stance. For all I know, he may actually believe it, but I think he's got an eye on the future too. "He has to convince his party members, the public, he has to have the evidence." Looks as if he failed, employers and employees are uniting against his lunatic plans. Forgive my cynicism, I've been around long enough to mistrust just about everyone's intentions. |

well the oil crisis might of started the economy downfall in the 70's don't you thing? in the 80's i forgot what it was and in the 90's it was the first gulf war. and now it's the USA credit crisis and the iraqi and afgani wars thats causing the global economy to downfall... certainly that cannot be labors fault. also you might want to know that during the first quarter of 2008 the australian economy grew more than 3.6%, which was higher than what Johnnie howard said it would be, and who was in power? rudd or howard? |

And possibly the criminal behaviour of the banks, loaning money they didn't even have.
I believe all those who benefited should be rounded up, stripped of their assets and the money from those assets, used to correct the damage they've done. Why is it the less fortunate always have to pay for the crimes of the greedy? |

The way the global financial collapse is going, you can kiss your businesses goodbye as well. No money equals no businesses, equals no jobs equals no spending, equals no return on investments, equals businesses folding, equals disaster for all, and it's a global problem, not a political one. On top of money hassles in this country, we also have a drought which I witness the results of emotionally, on a daily basis, on those immediately affected, but also on those whom the ripple affect is now also devastating. We really do have some hard times ahead, and following that, a very different country and lifestyle. It's being caused by the abuse of our environment and is driven by greed, nothing more and nothing less. |

I agree, especially because I possess the ability to live off the land. It would do the greedy good to lose what they've evilly obtained. Every dog has its day and I'd love to witness the unscrupulous having theirs. |

Well, maybe Kevin's Mommy can do to his mouth of poo, what mine did to me on several occasions when I was a little girl---take me out in front of all the people I cursed around, & wash my mouth out w/Irish Spring.
Ick.....I can still taste that sh!t to this day, & STILL get sick whenever I smell that fragrance of that soap!(she used to grind it against my eye teeth too, & some would get stuck in my back molars, & that was awful to get out!) |

Oh and as for the title of this thread, I don't care if any Prime Minister swears, I mean, who'd be naive enough to believe "all" Prime Ministers didn't swear anyway?
Surely the Rudd opposers can scrape something a little more substantial than this from the bottom of their barrel? Or is Keven so perfect, this is the best they can do? |
"Lived in a Car??" Just another one of his stories. |

Hey come on, it was OK for Howard to tell Porkies, so why can't Kev? Lets face it, they're all liars. |
