because you are saying we shud apologise for something we didnt do i didnt choose to be born here not saying i dont love it here.... aborigines hate whites because we tried to abolish them and then make them the same.... think of the slave trade in other countries....

because we wanted a nice white country a new england... and they were the only thing in our way.... the only reason we loosened white immigration policies was so we cud build population in case we were ever attacked... as a result of their isolation the dont like white ppl... can i blame them no... does this mean they shud go bashing ppl sniffing petrol and stealing grog... no

why are you so hostile. i just want to understand why australians hate the aborigines
Actually Grace has a point - the vast majority of aborigines were killed by soldiers of his majesties government between 1700 - 1900 (Australia became a federation in 1901)

Perhaps you need to address this question to your fellow Englishmen - after all you chaps encouraged the slave trade and murdered an awful lot of people around the world - time cant quite erase all those memories you know

While modern people are not responsible for the action of their forbears the aborigines need to learn to forgive as long as they receive an apology and get on with their lives.

Why do australians hate aborigines. whenever i talk to australians they do not have a good word to say about them.
are people taught in schools that aborigines are inferior?
are aborigines considered lazy and violent by the media?
what is it?
We don't hate them. I have a few aboriginal friends who are not inferior to me or anybody else for that matter. They have well paid jobs, a good education and children to be proud of. Only one of my aboriginal friends is not working and it's because she is very sick.

Two different issues
1. Saying sorry is an admission of historic guilt - it allows aussies to move on (isnt that what you want)
2. Billions squandered - ATSIC and other peak aboriginal bodies funded by the Aust Govt - there has yet to be accountability and whether the money has been well spent. Given the condition of aborigines I doubt it. Part ofthe blame must go to aborigines in charge.
All Australians have said sorry you idiot. Where were you when all the people of a Oz signed the sorry petition
Are you a new arrival?

fyi i am visiting the UK, i am not english.

try an exercise in empathy

break down those defensive barriers and jump into the shoes of aborigines, see live from their perspective. For a moment respect their way of thinking, their traditions, their belief system.

when you see the world through their eyes what do you see. how would you feel about white australians?

i saw that alcoholism is a way of committing suicide. a lot of aborigines hate living in an occupied land?

Tell me what do you see?

Hi jammy

I see the same things as you - however people and many previous government have offered many a tax payer funded solution and little has been achieved

there many aborigines who have successfully broken into sport and few in entertainment but not many in politics or education or running companies

The major issue is one of accomodation. I dont believe australians (the white variety) and migrants are in the least bit sympathetic or empathetic toward aborigines.

My own philosophy is in tune with Aboriginal leader Noel Pearson that aborigines need to help themselves first before they can improve as a society

we need more Noel pearsons to act as mentors and more white people willing to take on aborigines in the workplace

All Australians had the opportunity to. You could go to churches, Sydney Town Hall and other major cities to sign the petition.
If you didn't why not?

My friends who are aborigines don't drink except one and the reason why the other 3 don't alcohol is because they are more prone to alcoholism than most people.
The problem is we have city aboriginals like my friends who are educated, they live like all of the population.
Then you have aborigines who live on their tribal lands and live by their own laws etc. It is SOME of these tribal people who have an alcololic and drug problem. It is really up to the tribal elders to put laws in place to protect their own people.
Then we have aborigines who live as what we call fringe dwellers, these are the most unfortunate as they aren't educated enought to fit into the larger community but have become addicted to modern living.
We need a magic wand to solve this problem our government puts more money per head of population towards the aborigines than the rest of the community but it hasn't solve the problem.
What would you do if you were our government?
