"In Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, the federal ICE - not Puerto Rican authorities - handles immigration enforcement. But Dominicans say that doesn't stop local police from harassing them or turning them in to immigration authorities."

Sometimes the local police don't 'harass' the Dominicans--they extort money from them, threatening to turn them in to ICE if the Dominicans don't pay up. Sort of a Blue Mafia line.

Puerto Rico authorities say the attempt to clear the area has nothing to with the economy.

But Gonzalez, a mother of four, said nobody tried to force her out when her husband could easily find jobs in construction and landscaping. Without services, she now relies on water from tanks delivered by the local mayor's office and a gas stove for cooking.

"This," she said, "is about discrimination."

Yes, it is discriminating between citizens and illegal aliens who are breaking laws. What they should have done in the first place. Police discriminate when they arrest felons. That's what law is all about.

Have any policemen been indicted for this crime?

yugh. i'd much prefer a straight-forward thief to an 'official' thief.
dominicans and any other illegal aliens ought to have some place to annonymously report crooked cops. illegal aliens are probably less 'harmful' than corrupt officials.

Looks similar to when I reported a van load of them 18 total, but they were sitting along side the road in Cuffs not smiling at all. Was even on the local news. 2 weeks later the driver was arrested for hit and run of a State patrol officer. 1 child in the van died 1 Woman was crushed by the van and died when he rolled the van . Now he`s in Prison. Along with the van load he had that day.

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Taurus

Someone simply isn't being realistic or practical today, Taurus. He or she seems to be lost in a dream world of wishful thinking and idealism, none of which has much to do with what's really going on. Unfortunately, they won't want to hear any of this and may even manipulate the situation so they don't have to listen to your opinions. Be careful when dealing with this character and try not to get sucked into this desire to escape reality at all costs.
