ALBANIANS ARE NOT ILLYRIANS- Macedonia for the Macedonians!!

5. While the Illyrians were under Macedonian occupation, the Albanians lived in Asia on the Caucaus since the most ancient times. All ancient historians call their historical homeland Albania and they are also called Albanians in the ancient sources (Justin, Polybius, Strabo, Ptolemy, etc). There is NO connection whatsoever between these Albanians and the Illyrians who had lived in Europe separated by hundreds of miles.

9. The name Illyrians disappears from the face of the earth, but the name Macedonians continues to exist in every century since the coming of the Slavs.

11. The Turks conquered Illyria and Macedonia in the 14th century and they also imported into the territory of ancient Illyria even greater numbers of Muslim Albanians from Asia. Thus the Albanians are the latest intruders on the Balkan Peninsula and have the weakest link out of all modern Balkan nations with the original Balkans inhabitants.

12. During World War II, the Albanians were fascists (like the Bulgarians) and as collaborators of Hitler's Nazi Germany occupied parts of western Macedonia committing atrocities over the Macedonian population

13. After World War II the Albanians composed a very small minority of 8% in the Republic of Macedonia. Since then, they emigrated in greater numbers from Albania into Macedonia looking for a better life. By 1953, they composed 12.5% of Macedonia's population

And finally, the fact that the Albanians have retained their original Albanian name (and not Illyrian), only proves that they are direct descendents of the Asian Albanians and NOT of that ancient Illyrians. The Macedonians on the other hand have kept their ancient Macedonian name which speaks clearly that they are aware of their ethnic ancient roots, for the Macedonians have lived in Macedonia for more then 2,500 years while Albanians had increased as minority within the last 80 years.
