Like maggots in a covered garbage can in the hot sun -- remove the lid and pretty soon you have flies everywhere and more maggots. We lifted the lid. So, what to do? Can't turn back history and leave the garbage can alone. Only heavy-duty RAID will kill the flies and we're really busy right now in Iraq.

The absolute best way to correct the problem of over-reliance on opium poppy cultivation in Afghanistan is to correct the problem of opiate abuse in countries where these poppies are not grown. Eliminating the demand for abused opiate drugs will have many more benfits to all than eliminating the supply.
