Mother of US Soldier wrote: If your son was on the border of Afghanistan securing villages so they can rebuild. Every time they build a bridge the Taliban blows it up. They come and steal from the villagers, terrorize them in the night, slit their throats, take their only daughters, and traffic drugs on the roads we built, the food we bring to them, the wells we dug for them, the houses we helped them build on my tax dollars while I lay in bed each night wondering if my son will come home or die at the hand of some maniac serving a religion I cannot understand. It's Life and Death... every day for our home Peace to you all... Bless you and your son dear. The awful shame of all this is the tactics you described so well, are the same we experienced from the Viet Cong. Our policy makers and upper level military fails miserably at dealing with these tactics. I don't know if there IS any effective strategy. No one has discovered one yet. History shows that wars are won by invasion of overwhelming forces who destroy all opposition -followed by occupation of the victors. What the victors do during the occupation determines the future of the vanquished. Our "leaders" are reluctant to face these facts. Until they do, brave patriots who volunteered for service, like your son, will be between a rock and a hard place. I pray for his safe return, and your happiness and peace.

"Theirs is not to reason why, theirs is but to do and die."
Faith and Courage--it lives in the blood of U.S.A Soldier's!!
U.S.A Soldier's don't choose to be at home clicking a T.V. remote complaining about everything that someone else didn't do to make them happy. No, U.S.A Soldier's CHOOSE to participate in the making and changing history around the world.
God Speed!

No, U.S.A Soldier's CHOOSE to participate in the making and changing history around the world. God Speed! I applaud you! Our Soldiers are the BEST in the world. They give so much for us (some grateful, some not so much), but they give of themselves so that we may live Free! God Blesses each of them. Remember, we mothers who have soldiers -must have instilled some good values in our children, love of country, honor and self sacrifice. I don't want to take from the fathers who taught their children what it means to "not be self-absorbed", but to always believe in the better good. God Bless our men and women - they are the bestest in the world! Hey Son! Love you!
