I'm sick of ati-rascist groups bitching about how things came to fluishion istead of trying to work towards changing things for the better. And it wasn't that Jane Creba was killed that sparked action but the fact that seven people were shot.

CANADA NEEDS TO REALLY LOOK AT IT VALUES AND ALTHOUGH THEY WANT PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THAT EACH PERSON IS EQUAL OR GETS EQUAL TREATMENT THEY REALLY JUST NEED TO TRUELY LOOK IN THE MIRROW AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YES WE TREAT BLACKS AND MINORITIES AS SECOND CLASS CITIZENS. FROM THE POLITICIANS TO POLICEMEN. SO FORGIVE ME IF I FEEL ANGER TOWARDS THIS SYSTEM WHICH BOLDLY DENIES RECISM AND YET WE SEE IT EVERY DAY IN THE WAY ISSUES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH MINORITIES ARE OVERLOOKED AND DISMISSED. SEVEN PEOPLE MAY HAVE BEEN SHOT IN THE JANE CREBA SITUATION BUT HOW MANY MINORITIES HAVE DIED PRIOR TO THAT AND SINCE THAT I DON'T SEE ANY DRASTIC ACTION TAKEN WHEN OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE KILLED WE ARE MOTHERS AND FATHERS WHO VALUE THE LIVES OF OUR KIDS TOO.

The rascism won't stop no matter what they say it is nothing but trash they are not trying hard enough to do anything. Look Jane died by being shot to death and it became this big thing it was all over the news for days and Chantel was shot death and she just disappeared after three days
How fair are people treated not fair at all.

People are killed every day and it is not news worthy unless there is some recognition element. That's the way it is, and the way it always has been. Importantly action is now being taken. Let's focus on that.

The Coalition of African Canadian Organizations is absolutely correct. If Jane Creba had been black, society would have ignored the label of "innocent bystander" and found a way to involve her somehow in the gang warfare. This is how we psychologically construct our biases of outgroups. ERM, I'm fairly certain that the Coalition IS working towards changing things for the better -- hence the idea of forming a coalition. Furthermore, you claim that the outrage is in response to the fact that seven people were shot. Fair enough, but do you happen to remember any of the other names, or would you recognize their faces? I doubt it. P.S.-- I believe the word you're looking for is fruition, not fluishion:)

YOU PEOPLE ARE CRUEL, INSENSITIVE AND MEAN. JANE WAS THE PUREST, MOST BEAUTIFUL, NICEST PERSON AND YOUR USING HER DEATH TO BLAME PEOPLE FOR RACISM. THATS RIDICULOUS. MAYBE IF EVERYONE STOPPED THINKING ABOUT IF SHE'D BEEN BLACK, OR IF SHE'D BEEN OLDER, ETC. YOU'D REALIZE, AND INNOCENT 15 YEAR OLD WAS SHOT AND DIED THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS WITH NOT HER FAMILY BY HER SIDE, BUT STRANGERS. MAYBE YOU'D REALIZE THAT PEOPLE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY WHO DIDNT EVEN KNOW HER WERE MISERABLE AND DISCUSTED BY THE CRUEL ACT. DID YOU EVEN KNOW THAT THE WH0LE SHOOTING WAS BECAUSE ONE GANG MEMBER KNOCKED A RIVAL GANG MEMBERS HAT OFF. A GIRL WHO WAS NEVER MEAN TO ANYONE AND WHO EVERYONE ADMIRED DIED BECAUSE OF THAT. THINK ABOUT THAT, A GIRL WHO WAS SO FULL OF PROMISE (IN BOTH ATHLETICS AND ACADEMICS) DIED BUT NONE OF THE PEOPLE SHOOTING DID. IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU THINK THE SITUALTION WOULD HAVE GOT LESS ATTENTION IF SHE HAD BEEN BLACK, BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT, BUT THAT SHOULDNT MATTER EITHER. SHE DIED AND MANY,MANY PEOPLE ARE HEART-BROKEN.

Leah that is complete bullshit. Any grade 10 innocent girl killed by gang members stray bullets is a tragedy and cause for changes in gun policy.

Yes, Jane Creba's death got way more attention than all "corrupt police shootings of blacks," and of course that isn't fair. But hey, now we finally have Government action on gun violence & weak punishment, so let's forget racial discussion & FOCUS ON WORKING TOGETHER & GETTING THE JOB DONE. Thank you.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHAT RACE SHE WAS. I MEAN HER DEATH GOT ALOT OF PEOPLES ATTENTION ABOUT THE TERRIBLE THINGS THAT HAPPEN BECAUSE OF GUNS. AND WHILE YOU PEOPLE ARE CRITISIZING HER RACE AND SUCH OTHERS ARE GRIEVING, HER FAMILY IS GRIEVING. IMAGINE WHAT ITS LIKE FOR ELLIOT(11) TO HEAR(THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS) THAT THE SISTER WHO WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR HIM AND PROTECTED HIM HAD BEEN SHOT. OR FOR ALISON (JANES OLDER SISTER, WHO IS IN UNIVERSITY) TO BE BLAMING HERSELF FOR HER BEAUTIFUL SISTERS DEATH, WHILE TRYING TO COPE WITH HER LOSS AND CONTINUING SCHOOL. OR FOR HER AMAZINGLY STRONG PARENTS WHO LOST THEIR AMAZING DAUGHTER WHO NO DOUGHTUBLY WOULD HAVE HAD AN ABSOLUTE BRILLIANT COURIRE. THEY'RE GRIEVING, IM GRIEVING, WE'RE ALL GRIEVING. SHE DIDNT EVEN GET TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL.OR CELEBRATE HER SWEET 16. THINK ABOUT THAT. ITS LIKE YOU DONT EVEN MISS HER, AND WHILE YOUR TRYING TO CONVINCE EVERYONE THAT THE ONLY REASON HER MURDER GOT ATTENTION WAS BECAUSE SHE WAS WHITE, REALIZE YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE BEING RACIST.AND TRY SEARCHING HER NAME ON THE INTERNET, YOU'LL FIND LETTERS, PICS, BLOGS AND MORE SHOWING HOW HER DEATH EFFECTED US ALL.

Jane was a honoroll student in the extended french program. she was an amazing student and athlete who won countless athletic recognitions/medals. But most of all she was an amazing friend to EVERYONE. she was always polite and was there for you even if she didnt really know you. she was the most beautiful CHILD and more of a person than anyone will ever be. She was an angel and because of guns god took her back. she was killed on boxing day, the buisiest shopping day of the year on the buisiest street in toronto. she was killed ina freak shoot out and 6 other people were also injured. That is only a bit of why she gets so much attention the real reason she her murder gets so much attention, is not because she's white, but because of the person she was and will continue to be in all of the hearts who knew her, met her, admired her and heard of her beautiful legacy. the only one being racist is the people who judge this case by race, instead of giving the recognitiona and respect Jane deserved. instead of spending all your time trying to convince everyone that this was an act of racism, think about jane. think about the wonderful girl who never got to celebrate her sweet sixteen. or the girl who if you were in need, would be there for you even though you never met her befor. think of the beautiful face that never got to say goodbye to her parents, sister and 11 year old brother. think of her lying in the streets with a stranger by her side slowing being taken back to the place she no dought came from....heaven.

i dont think its about race i think its about a totally innocent young girl getting killed for nothing in the most public and safe place imaginable.
no one cares when some gangsta gets killed and thats the truth. why should we?
why is it every black or white gangsta who gets killed is always just going to change there life around right before they get killed?

I walked the halls of Riverdale today. The same school Jane attended it felt very depressing. I swam in the same pool she probably swan in. Her death was not fair and we should get revenge on those responsible. Canada should re-enstate the death penelty because we go too soft on murders and convicts and that pisses me off so much. I want people to feel the same pain that their victims feel.

God rest jane's soul

no way, death penelty is for mass murderers and mass rapists and although taking Janes life to me is the most uninaginable crime, i'd rather the basturds who shot her spend a life time in prison than die. i mean if they were willing to g out in the middle of the street and start shooting, killing people, what makes you so sure they'd care about dying. The 2 gangs were shooting at eachother, thay must have thought someone was going to die. plus i dont think Jane would have wanted them to be killed. i know we want revenge but i think the best revenge is for them to sit in jail all their life (without parole), they're life is to worthless to be thrown away, for them to nolonger feel pain, if they die they wont have the constant reminders that they killed an angle, do you really want them NOT to suffer?

This is the kind of thing poor the poster is complaining about. You make the statements like "society would have done us dirt". This statement is conjecture. It hold no weight in terms of the subject matter and what is worse, it illustrates how minority groups are set up to deflect criticism rather that accept responsibility and act for the common good.

Maybe I'm wrong, your post is proof of my allegation. Direct me to one incident in the last 24 months where the victim of violence was a person of colour and the news report UNFAIRLY associated that person as a part of the group causing the violence.

I hate to say it but if they ever catch the individual who shot Jane Creba the most they'll be able to get them on is second-degree murder.

If blacks in both Canada and the United States feel that it takes a pretty white girl/woman for there to be attention drawn to gun violence.....they are right!!! How many gangs of white teenagers are running around shooting blacks? How many whites are there driving into the ghetto robbing blacks? Something like this shocks the senses of "white Canada/US". This senseless murder is not something whites accept, where as in the "black community" it is the cost of doing business. Black on black crime happens daily...just ask any large police dept. It hurts them the same when this type of crime happens to them but they are to blame (raise your children right and stop blaming me!!). I can write for hours why I think this is the case, but the main reason is apathy. However, when Jane was needlessly gunned down by a black the "white community" was outraged and let it be known. The only time you see the black community is outraged is when they and there so called leaders (Sharpton-Jackson) feel thet the "man" has committed an offense. Such as, a white policeman shooting a black in self-defense....
Needless to say, I'm fed up with the double standard that has invaded society the past 30 years....minorities can say and do what they please, but whites have to be tolerate and accept their constant fellings of outrage... get over it!!!
