Hmmm I think the women in question are not cognizant of the law, otherwise they should have reported this guy.
That is what I am saying Elias, women don't report every incident because most time they are in a position to control the situation if it is simply some guy just trying to show off to his mates after a little dutch courage, MOST soon back down when they see the woman is not appreciative of their unwanted attention OR hands on aproach.

Agreed, if you don't respect yourself then it's far easier for others to do the same.
I agree with that Sairla but you just gave an incident where a woman was not parading or flaunting herself, and has to live with some random assulting her....where is her empowerment here where is her rights here...men are not around all the time to control the behaviour of other men....so we need a society that doesn't accept this type of sexual behavior that come down hard on this type of crime...if a woman was dressed provocatively on that train and minding her own bussiness she wouldn't have deserved that sick treatment any more than the first girl...the moral codes of what others believe is acceptable shouldn't change what is right and what is wrong methinks?....

Maybe you should take that confession to the police, don't really know why you're telling me.

And that is still the true reason for females, they still want that sole loyal partner and a monogomous relationship with marriage and kids as do a lot of men. The problem as I see it is that now some men are threatened by the advance of womens rights in this area and act like they are no longer in a position of power over the female species and then there is the fact that some now have a fear of rejection...We have many freinds who are married but there are a few that have been coupled for years and don't feel the need for this but still are devoted to each other...so breeding goes on....because of those men that can adjust and cope and are not threatened by the empowerment of women...they have evolved....

But I don't think there is anything wrong with not wanting kids or a long-term relationship, especially after you've been burned by the experience in the past.

Yes there are still breeders. But the there has been a major shift, that was my point. Something I forgot to mention was the impact of Vatican 1 and 2 in the 1960s where the papacy reconciled that if they condemned women who use contraception they risked losing an entire generation of their flock. Of course all they did was delay the inevitable. Diogenes would have a hell of time finding a catholic virgin in Australia with his proverbial lantern.

<quoted text> Before I was wondering around having no clue what to do with myself, now it's all laid out in front of me and I'm happy!
I think for Australian men the drive to have families is different now to what it used to be in the 1940s or even 1950s. In your grandparents generation the father was expected to not only be a breadwinner but he was a active participant in the culture of a community and the extended family or clan. Males saw their roles in society very clearly.

Today the choices are confusing, many men even stay at home and look after their kids while their wives are in high powered jobs. I'm not saying women aren't allowed to have freedom of choice, it's just it's (ironically) come at a social cost.

What if the boundaries get blurry? girls drink as much as blokes these days and put themselves at great risk. I don't believe women (and especially young girls) are in a position to control their environment when they are inebriated in public.

And if you didn't have contraception the world would be a much bleaker place due to rampant over-breeding. People seem to begrudge those who do not choose to breed or who are promiscuous but I say each to his/her own as long as they are not hurting anyone and, it is best that they realize they're not suited to child-rearing because to rear a child when you don't have the fortitude or skills to be a good parent, is not doing anyone any favours.

Of course not we live in the 21st century where women and men are not bogged down by the pressures of the past to procreate for the sake of it....so anyone who wishes to live husband or kid free can do so without believing something is wrong with them and power to all those who follow their own path.....

True there are options and choices, but lets tie this back to the thread. Rachel Finch is like a sports car in magazine, something men desire. Not her as a person but her body. The emancipation of women with contraception has mean't women have choices - have sex without the worry about pregnancy. But it means their bodies have become depicted as playthings and the size and shape even dictated to us by the media.

Is this what women want to be in society? objectified as potential sexual onjects? gauged over the level of pleasure they can give? I don't believe this was the case in pre-1950s where social norms dictated men don't stare at women and women dressed conservatively.

I'm not saying this all going to go pear shaped (after all we humans are adaptable) but we need to acknowledge that a major change has and is taking place. The changes may not produce the effect we want in the long term for us.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Gemini

Beware wishful thinking because it will cloud your thoughts and lead to confusion. However, that's much easier said than done, because today you're showing distinct tendencies towards living in a rosy world of your own and ignoring any hard facts that are under your nose. Take care that you don't allow someone to dupe you simply because you aren't paying attention to what they're saying or doing.
