refer to the section on the following link entitled "international status".

QUOTE,
In a 1996 report on a Puerto Rico status political bill, the "U.S. House Committee on Resources stated that PR's current status does not meet the criteria for any of the options for full self-government". It concluded that PR is still an unincorporated territory of the U.S. under the territorial clause, that the establishment of local self-government with the consent of the people can be unilaterally revoked by the U.S. Congress, and that U.S. Congress can also withdraw the U.S. citizenship of PR residents of PR at any time, for a legitimate Federal purpose.
here is the actual document stating this fact.
http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/resource...
contrary to your belief, your claim that puerto rico DICTATES to the usa when they can be denied american status is pure fiction - a figment of your imagination, bro.
puerto rico voted not to pursue statehood 4 times. that is enough reason to not grant them another invitation.
being an american is a privilege, and if you don't think so, you know where the door is.
The document to which you refer:
http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/resource...

is a 1997 (not 1996) transcript of a Field Hearing where a group of politicians gathered to debate. It has NOTHING to do with law, and NO bearing on the actual, legal citizenship status of Puerto Ricans born in Puerto Rico.

Not even a particularly good try.

Lies are lies, you put your own obvious studious truth next to his (AG's)lie and the truth always wins...Haters always seem to resort to lies to make their point but only end up making fools and forum clowns of themselves and even lose all credibility with all of of us as no one respects anything they have to say as most of it is never based on facts and truth anyways just distorted truths...

Thanks for that clarification PRJester.

Well..., your logic is the toilet. How many times do I have to tell you that Puerto Ricans are Americans by birth. Their alligence is to the US. Their island is not a foriegn country. It is a territory of the US, much like Guam, American Samoa and Swains Island. How stupid are you that you can't understand these basic facts that are part of the law?
Any aid rendered to Puerto Rico by the Federal govt, is obligatory and tangent as aid that is rendered to the 50 States. This is what a Federal govt. does for its citizens. Are you still too stupid to understand that fact?
Puerto Rico as a commonwealth has the right to a parliamentary runned democratic govt. that allows debate between party factions. Because they've decided to maintain their status and not become a State doesnot undermine their right as US citizens. They remain citizens until such time that they decide to become independent. Is that hard to understand?
puerto rico is an interesting case...would you believe it if I told you I just did some major research on puerto rico on the internet? and read over 50 different articles on the politics and history - yes, I did. some of these articles were like a 100 pages long.

I came away thinking. puerto rico really has no say in whether they are granted statehood or independence. ultimately, congress has to make this decision. and frankly, they haven't. they left puerto rico in limbo for over a hundred years. the 4 referendums were just opinion polls that didn't really mean anything anyway.

I don't like the fact that you guys don't pay your share of federal income taxes. but that would be resolved once congress gets off their butt and make the decision on puerto rico once and for all.

and they should - it is irresponsible behavior.

somehow, I can understand why many puerto ricans side with the illegals.

is this a apology? yes.

BUT I am still opposed to illegal immigration.

You need to understand that your talkin' to a different breed of Puerto Rican. I told you, God knows how many times, that I'm a third generation. I've been paying into the US system, like my preceeding generations had, for quite some time. Unlike you, we're well established in the mainland scene reflecting above average success.
We are a diverse community, and not all of us side with the illegals on the immigration issue. I told you before, I'm for stern border enforcement. Are you dense or somethin'?
And yes..., like a any subcultural community, we have our issues with the power structure....
There has been much neglect by US colonial policies concerning Puerto Rico. I'm for independence. I believe it can instill a sense of social self respect so essential to making it a viable and productive small nation in the global economic market. It will do for itself and not for someone else.
If that day ever comes, I will expect YOU to have your papers in order, otherwise you're goin' to jail.
hey. I think I understand how you guys feel. but don't expect me to kneel and bow down to you or anybody.

as for showing your papers, I would be proud to show my american id to anyone. I don't see any problem doing that. if you like, I will even stick it on my forehead for all to see if it will help deport all the illegals sooner.

It is not about understanding “feelings”, just the facts…

And as for “bowing down”; who in here do you think is expecting that…? Indra…?

That’s a strong stuff you are putting in that pipe…

David, unfortunatley it did not last to long. I get a kick out of reading the racist reply's from people as if just any one race has the killers, drug dealers, rapist, etc. Until they are able to realize that their lives are crappy because they want it to be, they are going to keep blaming, stereotyping, accusing.
True Evil is evasion of REALITY.

I infact get a kick out of rubbing your evil faces in facts. I really wish I could see the inner reaction of your soul when you realize that 'whitey' wasn't reacting to your skin color but rather your actions as a whole. PRICELESS.

• Police and the justice system are not biased against minorities.

Crime Rates

• Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and eight times more likely to commit robbery.

• When blacks commit crimes of violence, they are nearly three times more likely than non-blacks to use a gun, and more than twice as likely to use a knife.

• Hispanics commit violent crimes at roughly three times the white rate, and Asians commit violent crimes at about one quarter the white rate.

• The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic.

Interracial Crime

• Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving blacks and whites, blacks commit 85 %(654,000) and whites commit 15 %.(115,000.)

• Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. Forty-five percent of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only three percent of their victims are black.

• Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.

• Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes against whites than vice versa.

Gangs

• Only 10 percent of youth gang members are white.

• Hispanics are 19 times more likely than whites to be members of youth gangs. Blacks are 15 times more likely, and Asians are nine times more likely.

Incarceration

• Between 1980 and 2003 the US incarceration rate more than tripled, from 139 to 482 per 100,000, and the number of prisoners increased from 320,000 to 1.39 million.

• Blacks are seven times more likely to be in prison than whites. Hispanics are three times more likely.

Google 'color of crime' if you doubt your own experience - which I in fact doubt.

This country never change... maybe I will listen to the racist and leave. I just don't want to feel as I am not welcome in a place. Too bad there are Puerto Ricans dying in all the wars this country have created for nothing. No respect at all. We waisted all that precious blood for nothing. My granfather went to the second war and my dad went to Vietnam for nothing. They waisted their time. I will go back to my island and never leave. My Puerto Rico is beautifull and freedom is abundant, yes we have problems but they are related to drugs. United states have no problems at all. This country is paridise with no issues at all. They are no racisim, no killings and no crime... Just time will tell whos right... WAIT!!!

Ok, Cristóbal Colón was credited with discovering America. And surely, he was sailing for the Spanish crown; albeit, née Genovese. The dawn of British exploration in the new world would start a few years later with the landing of John Cabot (another née Genovese) in the coast of Newfoundland.

But, it would take a certain degree of intellectual dishonesty if one were to accept as true that Colón actually "discovered" anything but a new passage to Asia. This dude reached the shores of the Bahamas way out of course – completely gone astray. His crew was hungry, dehydrated, and mutinous; lead by a petulant and incompetent skipper who beseeched the almighty for an accidental miracle.

In addition, Colón never knew he had discovered a new continent. He departed this life convinced that the lands he came across were territories of Asia.
