Japan's Abe: No Proof of WWII Sex Slaves

This is expected and totally in line with the historically arrogant Japanese tradition of denial of any wrong doings in things like, for example, the Bataan Death March.

Does anyone know the Japanese side of the story? Do they honestly think these women wanted to have sex with hundreds of Japanese soldiers? Why backtrack from the 1993 statement? I'm not Japanese so maybe that's why I don't understand, but if anyone can shed some light on this, please do.

Japanese male dominated culture traditionally couldn't have cared less how women were victemized. Women pressed into sexual slavery for Japanese soldiers were dismissed as "ianfu", or "comfort women". That was the end of the discussion as far as they are concerned, as well as for much of the rest of the world. Who cares about 100,000 women brutalized, or 350,000 men, women and children slaughtered in the Rape of Nanking when there is money to be made today with Japanese banks.

And there was no "Rape of Manila" and no "Rape of Shanghai." Japanese prison camps were like country clubs and the Bataan Death March was actually just an afternoon's stroll in the sun.

Just as I have been saying no one has ever treated our prisioners humane. Would you expect them to treat women with any differently? I do not think so. They should own up to their injustices and pay the consequences. I can not believe that the Japanese can believe that this lie is going to fly.

I am an American who has lived in Asia for over 37 years. I have seen and talked to some of these women, and know what the Japanese did to them. They are just dragging this out, in hopes that all the women will die out and they will not have to pay what is owed. Here in Korea, they are trying to pass a law that will enable the childern of these women to recieve the compensation that is due.

You did not get the point of the note. Why should we be nice to any prisioners since no one has ever been nice to our prisoners. Abu Garid prisioners were enemy combatants and are not afforded Geneva Convention Protection. Maybe you should come to Mass. and Vote for Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. All these two can think about is how to undermine the military. Everytime Kennedy gets a chance its is Abu Garib. They should have battlefield justice for these terrorists. No uniform,you are shot.

You see the proof everyday on how Japanese men treat their women. Look at how the Japanese hounded Princess Masako hounded to have a baby boy. And when she couldn't (she has a daughter), the younger Princess had one to appease the government.
