MANILA: China to Philippines: Quit Scarborough Shoal

Even in the ancient times, they consider themselves as more superior than the others and even naming their land the "Middle Kingdom". Then the Europeans came then conquered their land and kicked their asses. I think this is happening again.

What is it that you don't understand about the real world of laws laid down for your country as international treaties, your own maps, your own legal advisors, your own Constitution?

It's you who don't understand...we have exercised sovereignty and jurisdiction over Scarborough shoal since our independence. We have our Philippine lighthouse there to prove it. Our constitution says Scarborough is part of Philippine territory.

While China has no proof of sovereignty and jurisdiction over Scarborough shoal. You can't even implement you own fishing ban to your own Chinese fishing vessels...it only means you don't have jurisdiction.

If PHILIPPINES is asked of its evidence on its sovereignity on Scarborough Shoal:

Well because as we all know, Panatag Shoal (Scarborough) falls beneath 124-nautical miles from the shore of Zambales and from this standpoint,this should be enough evidence. But i believe this is not enough for the Chinese. So here's more:

1. Even as early as the Spanish Colonization of the Philippines, Filipino fishermen had already been fishing in the area and even using it as shelter during bad weather.

2. An 8.3 meter flagpole bearing the Philippine flag had been erected in 1965. A small lighthouse had also been installed and operated on the same year.

3. The Phiippines had exercised effective jurisdiction and occupation of the shoal since its independence from the United States.

4. There are also numerous article in our constitution pertaining to the Philippine's sovereignity over Scarborough Shoal.

ALL of these had been ignored by the Chinese Government. The Philippines had also wanted the consent of China to bring the case to ITLOS but they are reluctant to do so.

Now, If CHINA is asked of its evidence on its sovereignity over the shoal:

Their grounds on the Scarborough Shoal is on history (history that a normal non-chinese person could not comprehend) and a 9-dash line map that even the Chinese Government cannot produce.

Leaders of the ASEAN have agreed that the regional Code of Conduct in the South China Sea should integrate provisions of the Unclos, a treaty that the Philippines cites in its claim to disputed Scarborough Shoal and other islands.
