Obama Tries to Allay Jewish Concerns
Barack Obama has a solid Senate record in support of Israel. He sings the praises, too, of Jewish civil rights workers who fought for blacks' rights in the U.S. And he says he wants to patch up "a historically ...

"You know, I would not be sitting here were it not for a whole host of Jewish-Americans who supported the civil rights movement and helped to ensure that justice was served in the South," Obama said. "And that coalition has frayed over time around a whole host of issues, and part of my task in this process is making sure that those lines of communication and understanding are reopened."
Still, there remains some "nervousness over Senator Obama" among Jewish voters, said Rabbi Joshua Skoff, who attended a private meeting with Obama in Cleveland last month. "The rumors still have some legs." At the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, President Howard Friedman said Obama's Senate record on Israel has given his critics no reason to doubt him. Denouncing Fahrakan is wise. Probably needs to do the same with Jeremia Right's foolish rants too. Overall, I don't see Obama acting on either of those 2 fools dreams. Seems like a pretty fair guy so far... |
Going to a racist church for twenty years and hanging with thta loonie preacher as his mentor is scary. I would have rather seen Obama beat Hillary until this story emerged. |

Obama as Don Carleon has said numerous times (FORGET ABOUT IT!).

Difficult to denounce him when he has called Right his "moral sounding board," Right performed his wedding ceremony, and is credited with naming his book. Up until now I didn't have a big problem with Obama, however the fact that he has spent the last 20 years listening to these racist, anti-american rants on a weekly basis makes wonder who this guy really is at the core. His wife already stated that she has never been proud of this country (smart woman; I assume she doesn't mince words). One can't help but wonder who these people are and what they really believe. |

I just watched the rantings of Obama's pastor on the Today show. No way I'd consider voting for a man who is in the flock of that preacher of hate. Lord help us. This Obama dude is a pied piper.

If Obama says he does not agree with what his preacher says, then why did he stick around for so long?
I have left a few churches because I did not agree with their teachings. If you stay, then you are in agreement and are part of the problem. Also, the media is so careful about being politically correct that they are afraid to report the truth. Wake up America! This man is not a god. There are skeletons in everyone's closet. |

It's a religious/cult nutjob (Obama) vs. a Socialist (Clinton)in the Democratic race. Time to hike up your skirts folks swallow hard and vote for McCain. He's the lesser of the evils. I'm a libertarian at heart, and recognize McCain will be best for the country out of the 3 current forerunners. Not all Repubs are morons like Bush, don't hold it against McCain.

I must say. You have hit the nail on the head. Who is this guy? He has half of the country in a trance. Hopefully this will take them out of it. |

Mr. Obama may as well write-off the liberal Jewish vote (which is 99% of their vote). Too many racist sermons preached at his church and too much hate over the course of many years has come to the forefront of his campaign. The real test is going to come at the Dem convetion. If Mr. Obama has the majority of the popular vote and the super delegates hand the nomination to Hildebeast, this convention will make 1968 look like a pillow fight. Wait and see!

As a Jewish American, I would like Mr. Obama to prove to me exactly why his health care plan without adult mandates is somehow better than Clinton's. As it now stands, his plan sounds half-hearted and underdeveloped, while Clinton's sounds as if it is a core value of her campaign, and one that she has been developing and honing for quite some time.
I want universal health care for all Americans regardless of age, race or income (a very Jewish social value btw)-- so until Obama can prove his plan is no more than a pasted-together, half-hearted campaign promise, Clinton has my support. |

On behalf of Denver, we are very nervous! |

You're a libertarian, but won't consider Ron Paul? |
|
Before you jump off the deep end on health care for everybody, I would invite you to visit Dr. Sauerberg's proposals. He is running for senate aganst Durbin. His approach is sensible, durable and palatable. Please look at his website. |

Ron Paul has fantastic ideas. Unfortunatley his cut and run from Iraq lost me. We can't just leave. |

great and we just have gotten rid of half of the police department in Chicago. |

It's absolutely fantastic that Obama is trying to allay these fears.
But, it should be noted that: -As a practical political matter, I don't think Obama has anything to worry about. As the article points out he's getting about half the Jewish Democratic vote anyway - pretty amazing considering all the "Obama is Osama" fear-mongering out here on the internet. and -Jewish Americans have nothing to fear with Obama. He's a solid Democrat with all the solid Democratic positions, including those regarding Israel and it's security. He's nothing like what the internet fear-mongers make him out to be. |
That makes 2 of us. Besides, Ron Paul won't be running in the general election. |
|
Er, didn't Mr. Paul actually drop out of the race last week? |
