Being here has taught me that religion just serves to drive people apart and cause trouble, hatred, etc. I'm a gay-friendly, non-racist, tolerant person and the homophobes esp. can't stand my stance on gays. Like they're better? Not by a long shot. I have gay friends who are far kinder than the homophobes here, which only makes me more compassionate and understanding towards the gays. You're also open-minded, which is wonderful.
My son is a psychologist - homosexuality is not a perversion at all. He has seen them suffer so much....
I've been friends and acquaintances with gays for years. And I agree-- the ones I know are much more compassionate persons than the gay-bashing haters of the world.

Strange how that Declaration of inalienable rights to "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" are no longer inalienable when they apply to things that some people don't like.

Yes... imagine that? People, once again, believe their religious dogma trumps rule of law.

Sadly, that's true. I think many people are afraid, but I don't know why. Gays are no better or worse than anyone else; we're all pretty much the same.

Fear of "otherness" is, I'm afraid, a part of our basic survival instinct package. Demonstrating your "differentness" always pisses somebody off. We are all "pretty much the same" and it's hard to understand why we can't all just get along. But ... there's a battle between instinct, emotions and intellect going on in our heads all the time. We can't even really "get along" with ourselves, much less other people. I'd say we're all pretty much doing the best we can, all things considered.

Hee hee. Religous types! Neandathals galore. Its sad but many still love the theatrical garb that turns them on. Its all about Control/Politics, dumbo's. The controllers of "any" religion (who don't believe a word of this nonsense) have thier "followers" by the balls.

Become a real human being. Become an Athiest. Religous types are bleeding your brain dry.

You-you-you mean.... gays are >>people<< >>too???<<<

<snerk>

Imagine that?

:D

Alas, one of the saddest side-effects of religion, is the separation of humans into two groups: "People" and "Not-People".

By doing this? It allows a person to circumvent their natural instinct to be empathetic with >>people<<.

.... meh.

"Those? Oh...>>those<<... they aren't really One Of Us, now are they?"
[delivered in a holier than thou tone of self-superiority]

... sigh

To be fair, this behavior is hardly confined to religion.

YES!

"Become a real human being"

We, as a species, are nearly homogeneous (uniform) with respect to our genes anyway-- more so than many other species (or so I'm told by experts in this field).

The minor details should be no more significant than the color of a vehicle, or the packaging surrounding a favorite beverage.

!!!

----------

I do look forward to the day, when scientists fully unlock the secrets of human skin pigmentation.

Such that? One's skin color is purely a matter of choice and style-- want to appear darker? No problem, a simple treatment, and within a few weeks, Viola! Permanent, >>natural<< darker skin tone.

Moving farther north for a few years? No big deal-- another treatment (over the counter pill? likely) and lighten your skin as much as you like, to be able to absorb those Vitamin D enriching sunrays.

Models will likely opt for more shocking, all-natural skin pigmentation, such as bold stripes, or light-to-dark hues fading from their front to their backs, not unlike what you's see on a cougar.

And why not adopt colors beyond shades of brown, as we have now?(For are not >>all<< humans simply shades of brown? With everyone red underneath?)

In other animals, there are a variety of vivid and beautiful colors-- from vivid reds (cardnals) to incredible blues (bluebirds) to true black-and-whites (zebras) to lovely spot patterns of orange-yellow-white (tigers, giraffes).

And why not?

Imagine a model runway populated with lovely people who's only function is to display the latest line of all natural skin patterns? Look at her-- vividly blue, with shocking pink hair. Look at him-- nearly all blacker-than-black, with striking vivid yellow in strategic places in a pleasing pattern.

All natural-- no dyes here-- just using our own DNA and a bit of genetic engineering.

And perhaps, borrowing from other species like the lovely octopus's amazing ability to mimic patterns and colors.

Anyone who can read above the tenth grade level, read this and take warning. And watch Powering the Planet at 60 Minutes on CNBC, especially the last part about Antartica and the dire prediction for the end of this century. It takes decades for greenhouse gases to cycle out of the atmosphere. Meanwhile the glaciers keep melting and the temperature is rising. And Republican candidates avoid the whole issue and distract voters with wedge issues.

http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data/ar4/...

Everything else is just distraction. And people like to say that Nero fiddled while Rome burned. What are we doing today as we pollute the biosphere? Worrying about skin color or sexual orientation or what heaven is like?

Life in one form or another will continue, in spite of our efforts to Eff it up.

The historical record shows that the earth has had average temperatures much hotter than what is predicted in the past-- and life continued.

Sure, there were mass extinctions-- that's the way of global climate change.

Fatalism? Perhaps. Practical, in that I a single person, cannot do didly-squat about the situation?

You got it-- I'm too old to live to see the really big ecological changes.

But will I >>vote<< for a climate-denier? Not even for money.

And when those very expensive beachfront houses get wiped away, I doubt a certain segment of the population owning them will just chalk it up to God Has A Plan(tm).

You can almost hear the future crying and outrage for the government to insure them or give large tax breaks for losses.

Oh, yeah... if you hated the banks' corporate hand-outs, as a "reward" for effing up the economy?

Wait till you get a load of the beach-front bail out proposals...

... let the hypocritical whining commence.

There will be NEW beach front property and the OLD beach front property will be quickly forgotten. Eventually all we know and see will be another layer in some geologic formation, where records of the rising and falling sea levels are actually kept.

Global warming is as much a fiction as the normalcy of God-lessness and sodomy. When God decides that the time is right for a real apocalypse, you will be confronted not with self-contradictory lies invented by the liberal establishment, but by evidence that is real, physical, and immediate. And all of the God-less and the sodomites will be as helpless in the face of His destruction as the simpering monkeys that they amusingly think they descend from.

The data seems to support the notion (of global warming)... whether the trend is a result of human activity or a normal part of some long-term climate cycle ... hard to say. It is somewhat "brash", I think, to believe humans can damage or "fix" the planet's climate, whether by accident or design. The geologic record reveals thousands of climate shifts where humans certainly were not involved.

As for your God and his long awaited, oft predicted Apocalypse ... I say bring it on. Beats going to work in the morning. Simpering monkeys. What in the nonsense you just spouted makes you any better than them. You think they ignore their Jungle God in their "simpering" fear of the lightning? You've more in common with them than any Atheist.
