The majority of "participants" in our parliament system contribute nothing to the heavy lifting of formulating and implementing policies to become laws that are promulgated in The Queen's name. Only a slim majority of them even vote at general elections, fully 98% of them do not vote in nomination contests for MP candidates. Five parties in Her Majesty's House of Commons and only 100,000 Canadians are even "eligible to" vote for the new leader of NDP in the current contest. For 60 years Her Majesty has given us all either a government that has the confidence of Parliament or an election.
