He was a regular soldier in the Wehrmacht, but was captured before ever even seeing any fighting. Not surprising, considering he wasn't even 19 years of age at the end of the war. There also was not widespread booing and protesting in Amsterdam, apart from the so-called "provos" creating trouble. Juliana abdicated when she was 71, mainly because her dear husband was involved in some questionable business deals. There was political pressure on her, not any pressure from Beatrix.
