I was thinking the same thing Jason. I would hope to God that she would supervise them constantly. I don't care what neighborhood she lives in.

Wake up fitchburg, get the state police and sheriffs department in the city and drive these gangs and drug dealers out.

If you keep waiting, you'll need the national guard to do it.

My thoughts exactly. Why on earth would you even consider letting your children ages 1 & 2 play outside unsupervised or even inside for that matter. "God Bless those children with a mother that iresponsible." As for the shooting itself, there are a lot on animals in this area and unfortunately it will get worse, never better

I think its ridiculous of all the things that are happening out here in Fitchburg. People arent even safe in there own homes. Before it was a fight fist to fist now if its not with guns u aint solving the problem. People have to relax and think about there future and kids if they have any. Thats the same reason why i dont even go out like that because i be afraid to be at a place at the wrong time. Im a mother i think alot about her.

Glad to see that the city was laying off police officers. Time for the city to seek an overide and increase the police force. Right now your department is understaffed and the city is shoveling against the tide. The city could also ask for help from the State Police CAT Team like the city of Springfield does.

The amount of white people that post comments on here about puerto ricans is disgusting! You don't have the guts to walk up to one in person and tell them how you feel though. COWARDS.... I understand that SOME puerto ricans are bad people but not all of them. And the drug trade here is so big and succesfull because the american people are the biggest customers. I work in the Gardner prison and guess what... although there are puerto ricans there for drug convictions, the number of white people there for being kiddie diddlers are way bigger. People choose the trouble they want to get into. I guess in your eyes a american child diddler is far more acceptable than a hispanic drug dealer. What would you white people do if there wasn't a hispanic around to sell you your HEROIN!!! hmmmmmmmm

FITCHBURG — A man who police said shot at four people outside a Water Street bar and pelted their car with rocks early Monday is being held on $35,000 cash bail.

Richard Santana, 29, of 381 Main St., was arraigned this week on four counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and single counts of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, vandalizing property and carrying a firearm without a license.

The incident, in which no one was injured, occurred outside the Paddock Lounge at 1426 Water St. and drew the Police Department’s entire 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift, according to court records.

The gunshots erupted as people left the Paddock Lounge early Monday. Two men and two women told police they were getting into a car when a man, later identified as Mr. Santana, and another man referred to as “Fernando” began firing at them and throwing rocks at their vehicle. Police said there was a bullet hole in the windshield of the car.

The women were punched by the assailants, who fled when they heard police sirens, according to court records.

The four people told Officer Antonio F. Pennetti that they knew Mr. Santana and another man involved in the assault through a Fitchburg barbershop. One of the people targeted said the two men who shot at him were part of a Dominican Republic gang and use the shop as a front to sell drugs.

One of the men told police the incident was sparked by Mr. Santana being “mad because I took his girl.”

Mr. Santana was arraigned Monday and was back in court yesterday for further arraignment on the charges. He is due back in court on Sept. 3 for a probable cause hearing.

I read this yesterday in the Telegram and thought I'd pass it on. Gee, do you think “Fernando” could be "Freddie"???

What has happened to this world? Oh, and don't tell me it's only Fitchburg because this is happening everywhere and if you know where is isn't tell me because I want to live there!

You are not trying to imply that if Fitchburg had more officers on duty that this shooting never would have happened, are you?

Let's face it, most of the time cops respond to things after they happen. They are not stopping things from happening. Fitchburg could have had 10 cruisers prowling the streets and chances are that it would not have changed anything with this shooting..........
