Isn't it ironic? The police department risks their lives everyday, yet Mayor Wong and the Council won't support a new contract and a raise they deserve. Mayor Wong, keep up the terrific job and keep laying off the police officers in the city. By the way, don't go down to the crime scene and try to shake their hands, I'm sure they would rather not. How many murders in Fitchburg this year? Three. It's funny how the fire fighters received their contract. It's nice of them to volunteer working overtime to save a fire fighter. But they received their raise. From wht I have heard the police department make approximately $8000. less base pay than the fire fighters. I thought there was supposed to be parity throughout the departments. I would like to see my tax money go to the department that deserves a raise. Think about it... I'm sure the guy who got shot is receiving the Best HEALTH CARE on my DIME... Amazing who our city and country are supporting!

Neither Police Dept. nor the Fire Dept. makes what they deserve. BUT, they choose the profession for betterment, not to get rich. They choose to serve and shouldbe treated better.

All this whining about the mayor doesn't amount to a hill of beans, this crap would have happened no matter who held the office. The cops hands have been tied for years on this problem area, they arrest a puke pot, and he's back on the street the next afternoon if not sooner. The crap will go on in that war zone until they all kill each other, hopefully without taking any innocents with them. Also if anyone thinks these guys from boston were just up here for the City's wonderful, world renowned Fourth of July celebration, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

I have lived in Fitchburg for quite a few years. I was wondering who listens to a scanner because i hear alot more trouble going on than what officials are saying. They lie to cover the crap going on all over the city. Councilor Joseph Solomito needs to spend a week in the Congress street neighborhood. Then come say it's not a bad one....he WON'T! why? because it is bad....very bad.I know of at least 15 houses that have drug dealers living over there in that area and at least 8 of them won't hesitate to kill. How great of a city do we have? I'm looking to go elsewhere. This city is going downhill fast. Such a shame....

The punks have scanners too, they scatter like cockroaches when the light comes on when they hear a report saying something is headed their way. You seach a place and find guns and dope all over it, it gets thrown out of court because a word on the warrant was misspelled or some other bonehead tecnicality, the neighbors won't rat out the real problen people, either they are part of the problem also or have been threatened with deadly retaliation if they do. Wait till one of these crooked defense lawyer's kids get popped up there or some city councilors, then maybe someone will look closer.

"Public safety is something we're committed to 365 days a year' Wong said. Wong said she is working hard to address the issues of crime and violence. My question is directly for Ms. Wong- How are you working hard to address the issues of crime and violence- by laying off more police? I'm proud to stay I left a blank ballot in the last mayoral election. Unfortunately, this city has turned into a dumping ground. As for the guy in the hospital- You were lucky . If I was the EMT I would have taken my time and saved the state a lot in health care.

We're fun and fit in Fitchburg. Chip is right about Wong. She's over her head and knows nothing.

It's fun and fit in fitchburg-FIRE WONG NOW before more blood is shed. Tom would have been a better choice. Where is the new Chief? Why are residents being allowed to shoot off fire crackes. Civic days were a real joke. Take money away from the schools and give to the police.

Councilor Joseph Solomito needs to spend a week in the Congress street neighborhood.

he won't he ran away form being a cop, plus he was a sh-tty cop anyway.

He also wants to embrass the captains int he PD because they told him he was a sh-tty cop.

Hey Wong and the council, lay off more cops and pay the rest less! Real good idea. Listen to the scanner. Crime is out of control! Wake up you clowns. Pay these officers a fair wage and keep cops on our streets to protect us!!!!

Since you obviously have all the answers, please tell me how you plan to solve the budget crisis without raising taxes or laying people off?
