Sound Off! (Oct. 28)

Full story: Las Cruces Sun-News

I'm wondering why you have discontinued listing the educational level of the candidates for City Hall? I think it's very important that we as voters know what educational level our councilors have.

I meant "interesting and/or STUPID" Sound Off comments.

Usually it's just STUPID, so you can see why I was caught off guard by the few worth discussing.

"We put in for the Home Energy Assistance Program and they gave us the grant. Then they turned around and took that much money out of our food stamps."

Maybe someone should consider getting a job to pay for one's utilities and food? Sheesh....what ever happened to personal responsibility??

Why? Harry Teague is a high school drop-out while Mike Hays has a doctorate; and neither one of them is worth a crap. So what's your point?

I agree. Intelligence or educational achievement are no indicator of common sense or moral turpitude.

It's a rink not a ring. How can you want one and not even know how to pronounce or spell it. You'll use it once at best.

I think El Paso had an ice skating rink a few years ago? It didn't do very well. I think it's because we live in a desert with mild weather? Open one, see if it flies.

Do you know what Las Cruces needs? An ice skating rink. We don't need more pools or third-rate baseball teams or convention centers or any of that kind of nonsense. What we need is a good ice skating rink.

We have had a couple of them. They went out of business because of lack of business.
If you think it is a great idea, why don't you open one up.
If you are asking us taxpayers to open one up for you, forget it. I am tired of paying to entertain your children. You pay for it for a while.

Obama has had over a year, and now he's just declaring it an emergency? Where are the vaccines?

Obama took office Jan 20, 2009. It is still 2009. How is that over a year.
Private companies make the vaccine, not the President. Go ask the companies why there is not enough vaccine.

I just had to shake my head when I read Sound Off! saying that they were so pleased about Harry Teague giving La Casa $500,000, because Harry Teague didn't give them $500,000, you the taxpayers gave La Casa $500,000. He simply took the bow for it.-caller said.

Yes, Harry took the bow. But, I'm still glad La Casa got the money.

Everytime I donate items to La Casa (food, clothing, baby diapers) they make me leave it at the front door and wait until I am in my car and halfway down the block before they retrieve the donations. I realize they do that to protect the people inside. It's nice to see someone, even Harry, take a bow for everyone that has donated over the years.

I would think life experience may count more. Education is nice but there are plenty of successful folks that did not finish college for one reason or another. Bill Gates comes to mind.

• If all you people remember when Obama was running for president, he said that when he became president everybody would get the same health plan that Congress has. So far he's lied. You don't see any senators or congressmen bringing up this particular point. If this health plan is so good for us why don't they take it?

Because the 2 Senate bills and 3 House bills are so messed up no one knows what the outcome will be. I think they are at a point that they just want to pass something so they can say they did. START OVER and give us reform that will work include all parties in the discussion. If they feel they can save X amount in fraud & waste why do they need a bill to do that. Do it now. And where in the constitution is this entitlement permitted.

So does Mike Hays; all education and absolutely no relevant or meaningful life experience.

Right now they should have a huge story on the MHS softball coach and how many rules she has violated from the LCPS athletic handbook. Administration? Where are you? Why aren't you listening? You can't sweep it under the rug anymore. Hush hush time is over!

A Rink? Really? LMAO Wouldn't you think that what Las Cruces needs more is an education center that would teach parents how to talk with their children about birth control?

Oh really... I think the freak'n ice skating rink would be more effective in combating teenage pregnancy.

1) Most of the teenage mothers belong to a religion that forbids birth control

2) Most of the teenage mothers belong to an ethnic group that promotes teenage pregnancy as a means to stay in the country legally.

3) Most of the teenage mothers belong to a nationality that was told by their previous President (Vicente Fox) to "go north and procreate".

At least being in an ice skating rink may encourage them to keep their cloths on...

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
