When I was 16 there was no way in hell I would have gone to some dude's home to drink. I knew right from wrong and I was willing to stand by my convictions. I totally agree that these two girls should also be held accountable for their actions. They were old enough to hold a job and drive a car. So they were old enough to take responsibility for their behavior.

Ever heard of white slavery? Women are forced into these situations by a man who thinks he owns them. The girls and women are always forced into these situations and are never at "fault." This cracks me up. I'm a female and have never heard such nonsense.

Maybe if they would have taught more on values and dignity instead of parading around an anti-woman stereotype we would not have these stories. This man was taught to denigrate women by the culture at Park High which took to long to grow up and is probably still undergoing growth and not where they need to be. Without out a doubt you are entitled to your opinion. That said, I honestly don't buy that you really believe anything you post.

Seriously, Mrs R. I went to Park with Darwitz. The whole mascot thing has nothing to do with it. And if you researched the topic you are writing about, you would know that Eric Darwitz only had the Indian Mascot for one year. He graduated as a member of the Wolfpack. THe Indian has nothing to do with this. He was wrong in what he did. In high school a lot of guys were cocky, but honesly, the only girls that were ever disrespected were those that were bringing it on to themselves by dressing provocatively, having an attitude or by being the life of the party, if you knwo what I mean. Can people get back on track with the real topic at hand.

What's the crime? The girls are of an age of consent in Minnesota (16). And he was there former coach at the time. So I would say this is not a position of authority. Seems to me the Washington County has nothing better to do. When the law states position of authority, the definition of this means a person such as a family member or teacher who has a very influential role in the persons life. By no means does this mean a former girls hockey coach. The guy is guilty of being a loser, and providing alcohol to minors, nothing else.

How can a 16 year old be a consenting partner if they were served alcohol by a person with every intention of the outcome. I don't believe consent was given under the influence. I think the girls didn't know any better and the coach and his buddy took advantage of 2 drunk girls. Its a shame. Consent must be made of sound mind. Not influenced by outside or other factors. A person in that authorative type position must use much better judgement. This is clearly statutory rape by every definition.

Just wondering gets it. Providing alcohol to 16 year olds is a serious crime just by itself.

So if you're blaming the old mascot at Park for this situation, i'm interested to learn your opionion of the female staff member at Cretin that is under investigation for possible sex with a male student? Is their old mascot the problem too?

Is anyone aware that he already has 2 DWI's??? Obviously he has a alcohol problem and now serving it to minors! I guess it finally caught up with him.

Perhaps they should learn to size up a situation, such as going to some dude's home, finding another man present, and then being offered alcohol. To me it's like adding 2 plus 2 and getting five, when four is the obvious answer. They all need to be accountable for this situation.

Thanks for the info. This is just another sad example of how conservative Republicans have destroyed this country. If the authorities in Marshall had given this man the counseling and therapy he needed, maybe this wouldn't have happened. But leave it to Republicans to cut social services. And I still blame all the residents of Cottage Grove who did nothing for many years for this crime. If those pathetic slobs had acted sooner to get rid of that homophobic, anti-woman, racist mascot, then the residents of Cottage Grove would be much more better citizens. They are as much responsible for this incident as this man is.

This is not a discussion of the former mascot and you really need to get your head around the real issues

Park Parent, you are the one who is absurd and avoiding reality. I'm pointing out the underlying cause of this incident and you know you are guilty for not fighting against the former mascot and feel a need to lash out against me. Hmmm, I guess the truth hurts.

Park Parent, I'd move to California as well if I were a resident of Cottage Grove who had done nothing about the mascot. I'd be so embarrassed to stay in Minnesota with decent people.
