I mean goal scorer.

An ideal situation would be to trade the 2008 pick for a proven scorer. Too bad that the top players are D-men. Or pick someone high on the D list and trade him.

I agree with you on this one, only problem is who can you trade for that's willing to sign long term on the Island?? I'd love to see them get a goal scorer of some sort, that's the priority with this team.

Yea, great, get a goal scorer who can score 30-40 goals a season while the team gives up 5-6 a game. Yep, that would be a real smart move. Who was the Islanders 1st ever pick...Billy Harris? The only way he ever helped the team was by getting traded for Butch Goring. Wasn't Denis Potvin a first round pick and a defenseman? Hmmm, I wonder what he did for the team?

Though, if the Blues or Atlanta pick him before the Isles can, Id be happy with either Bogosian or Schenn as well.

A real gamble would be Jared Staal (rated too low to be taken 5th by the Isles). He could be one of those guys that makes some team like the Devils look really smart some day.

Offense - that's the only word to remember in this draft.

Filatov is supposed to be a similar player to Cherepanov, but not as fat and lazy... but do we really need another russian with lots of potential?? Oleg Kvasha, where have you gone??

Wasn't David Chekowski (sic) a hightly touted scorer? He really tore up the record books.

Actually, DAVE CHYZOWSKI was a horrible skater and that was his downfall. The Isles knew that, and prayed (not hard enough) that they could fix that. Nope, try again.

You always take the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE at the time of your pick. I'm with Snow on this one. If there is a cant miss potential Norris Trophy winning defenseman available, we take him. Whatever the pick is, it should bode well for the Isles future, and less headaches for all of us fans.

I think defense is the last thing we need. he Ilse need a true scorer.

159 lbs?? this guy will get killed in the NHL unless he puts on 40lbs immediately
