Ski racers make the Long Beach to Catalina -- and back -- run

Racers start the 61st. Annual Catalina Water Ski Race on July 11, 2009. The annual race pits water skiers against one another on the open sea from Long Beach to Catalina, then back to Long Beach -- about 52 miles.

The Long Beach Police Boat deserves some credit for making the lead skier fall before the finish. The two brain surgeons in the PD boat decided to cut right across the course and create a large wake, which caused the lead skier to fall. Good job LBPD... you ruined another persons day

Don't forget about the surgeons that let the finish line buoy float half way to Compton.
