Beatty has all the time in the world to pursue legal action - his movie career ended some time ago. Does he really think anyone is interested in seeing him play Dick Tracy again? Or anyone playing Dick Tracy for that matter.

If Beatty and the Tribune were THAT interested in Dick Tracy, WHERE WERE THEY when the Dick Tracy Museum in Woodstock had to close years ago because of lack of funds?

If either truly cared, they would have donated to keep the museum afloat.

Tribune needs to get its house in order before it proceeds with frivolous lawsuits.

[[A Hollywood hyphenate who's almost 72 is fighting over a comic-strip character that's more than 77 years old. The actor-director-producer-writer wants to make a sequel to a 19-year-old movie despite opposition from a not-quite-162-year-old company that says the TV and film rights he acquired 24 years ago are no longer his.]]

72, 77, 19, 162, 24.

what's with all the numbers? isn't the point of the start of an article to get people to read on? why bombard people with these meaningless statistics?

after that sentence, i don't know who filed suit, for how much, in which court.

stop with the cutesy "hollywood hyphenate" nonsense and just write crisp stories.

here's what i mean.

[[NEW YORK (Reuters)- Tribune Media Services has filed a lawsuit against Academy-award winning director and actor Warren Beatty to recover motion-picture and television rights to iconic comic-strip character Dick Tracy, according to court documents.

In a Delaware court filing on Thursday, Tribune Media Services, a unit of bankrupt newspaper publisher Tribune Co, said Beatty "wrongly claims" to have exclusive motion picture and television rights to the well-known police detective character.]]

You've got to be kidding me - moronic wrangling over the rights to a forgotten comic strip get top billing in this piece, and news that two of the nation's largest (and one of its best) newspapers are merging their international reporting operations gets buried??? I wouldn't necessarily expect any better of the Trib, but come on...

The headline should have been "Tribune Co., Warren Beatty fight for rights to Dick"

Will Madonna be in the new Dick Tracy movie? Will there be hot wrinkle-on-wrinkle action?

So... Beatty makes a movie 20 years ago that was a modest success at best (I kinda liked it, for the goofy live-action cartoon that it was), but has pretty much been forgotten, and NOW he wants to make a sequel? Unless you wanted to reboot Dick Tracy and make more serious and girtty (think: The Dark Knight) I'm pretty sure few people are interested in a Dick Tracy movie anymore, let alone a sequel. I don't see it being profitable for Beatty (or any film studio) or the Trib.

On another note, I had no idea Warren Beatty was that old. 72? Really? Wow.

At this stage of his life, with no significant screen time since "Bulworth" over ten years ago....what audience is left for Beatty's personal projects? It's unfortunate that he has not done more work in recent years, like Clint Eastwood.
Beatty has always taken his time between films, but he probably waited too long this time. Hard to imagine that he hasn't come up with an original idea in a decade. His fans might have been interested....years ago.

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Leo

Tread carefully if you're involved in a property deal or home improvement plan today, because someone might try to pull the wool over your eyes. They might forget to give you some vital pieces of information, or give you the soft soap treatment in the hope that you won't ask awkward questions. You're very trusting right now, but don't let that make you gullible.
