Best bets tonight

Vincent D'Onofrio is back and this Bobby Goren junkie is properly grateful!
The incomparable and magnetic Mr. D'Onofrio finally had a great script for a change after the many lackluster ones given him last season.
I think the episode concentrated more on the emotional aspects of the job and the bond between Goren and his partner Eames, but it gave Vincent and Kathryn Erbe a chance to show their acting chops.
I guessed who was the killer early on, but Martha Plimpton was marvelous as the emotional starved daughter who turns serial killer to gain the attention of her self-abosorbed FBI profiler father played by John Glover(another great acting pro!)
Miss Plimpton gave a pathos to a character that was essentially horrifying, while Vincent D'Onofrio quietly and effectively underplayed her to reveal the underlying compassion that characterizes this complex character.
I just hope that this season's writing displays a high quality to match the high calibre of the actors playing the characters.

I, too, was extremely happy with the season premier. This show has 2 of the best actors in the industry and finally we get to see their potential. I love the new, or fresh, layout. Whatever you call it, it works. I am not one to devote time to a television series, unless it is worth it, and this one made it again this year. I was almost afraid it wouldn't after last season. I will miss Jamie Sheridan, but I am a huge fan of Eric Bogosian. I look forward to the rest of the season.
