Of course gay people chose their own behavior as do heterosexual people. But they do so in keeping with the nature with which they were born.
Human nature comes in a great many varieties, if you're noticed. Being homosexual is just one of them.
All these varieties are totally acceptable in the respect and acceptance we have of each other.

As disturbing as Huckabee's remarks are, what is just as alarming is the mulititude of Huckabee supporters that feel the same way. Huckabee is using gays/gay marriage as a vehicle to garner votes from the Christian right. Why are Christians so obsessed with the personal lives of others, and the sex lives of others? Huckabee, and Romney, both, are dangerous non-thinkers.

Romney at least is a first-class thinker, and my guess is that Huckster holds his own. And they're both using Gays as the "other" the same way Hitler used the Jews. God forgive them: They know exactly what they are doing!

Yeah, you gather all your little, less than 2% friends and vote for somebody else, okay?
They're now saying that the chances are increasing for Republicans to keep control of the White House and to take back that 14% Congress.
Remember 1994!

I thought you people said that our views are meaningless and have no power.
Which is it?
How can you be on these boards so long and fail to realize that the GLBT community and our friends are made up of INDIVIDUALS who have different views? Some are content to pretend you don't exist, just as you try to pretend we don't exist. Others see the danger that Huckster and his followers will encourage more attacks on the rights of our community, including violent attacks such as Matthew Shepherd's death. Others are able to remember when we had NO rights and could be beaten with clubs by law enforcement officers while behind closed doors in our own venues.

I have no doubt that many who follow the Huckster would like to return to those days. We must be vigilant against hatred and violence. It is always ready to creep back out of the muck into broad daylight.

Remember 1994, and the angry white male? Get ready for "Son of Angry White Male" next year.
LOL!!! Ah yes the angry, white male. The little boys who cannot deal with change and still have daddy issues no matter how old they are. Those guys who feel impotent in the world and so scream at people in traffic and drive too fast and endanger little children in minivans. Yeah those guys. The ones who can't make their marriages work. The ones whose kids secretly pity them. Those guys. The ones who go on the internet and spew hatred at people different than them because it makes them feel like a man for ten seconds. The guys who go meekly through their real life never saying what they think in-person because they know someone would punch them out, but hide behind the anonymity of the internet to insult people. Yeah, I know the guys you're talking about. Those are the guys who have screwed up so much of the world but still think they are right and everyone else is wrong. Those poor little angry white men.

Yeah, we laugh at you guys. You know, us women and brown people and queers? Yeah, we think you are sad yet hysterical, with your little tiny genitals getting all hard as you type out sneering sexist racist homophobic crap. We luagh because we know you are absolutely terrified.

You are terrified. That is why you are angry.

So pathetic.

The only rational comment of the nineteen already posted on this thread but despite his tap dance around the subject after being called on it, not exactly what the former govenor had in mind, unfortunately. His belief, which seems rather clear from the quote from his book, seems to be that of those who deny the reality that someone can be homosexual but only behaving as one. His appearance on Meet the Press is just the latest example of Govenor Huckleberry's remarkable ability to shoot himself in the foot that for some reason is usually found in his mouth. He might just make it through with the Republican nomination appealing to the lunatic fringe on the right (just to show I'm not biased on this I believe there is a lunatic fringe on the left too) but if he does, he's going to scare the wits out of the average voter with his views and make a landslide possible for the Democratic nominee even if it's Hillary.

I do not know where the long statement I just put on here went. But I am sure you all realize that "the Huckster" is no morew faithful and educated than all his predecessors were on the subject. Those include agreat host indeed... i.e.,... Mr. Falwell, Mr. Robertson, even Mr. Billy Graham and dear old Mr. Oral Roberts!) WE ahve had the great misfortune to he blasted withg enough unfounded religios bigotry in the name of God and "faith" to make a millenium of humans puke their guts out.

Come on AMERICA get Re-United, and shovel this RELIGIOUS RHETORIC right back where it came from. Godness knows we've heard enough such idiocy from the current "W" ! Let's do a good job of VOTING this time and keep such crap OUT of the White House.

Mr. Huckabee's position on gay rights is not surprising to me. I don't suppose it's surprising to anyone. There aren't a lot of differences between his positions and any of the republican candidates. The issue for 2008 will be the war. Mr. Huckabee's only regret is that more americans weren't sent to Iraq to kill or be killed. Gay rights advancement is unstoppable. We'll have equal rights within a generation. The issue for 2008 is the war regardless of how the republicans try to change the subject.

Well the antigay people that hang out on gay boards are self loathing closet cases who lash out at those of us with the courage to embrace who we are, and the freedom to simply be.

They're weaklings, who have to swipe at people from the shadows like a poor little wet cat. Rrowr...fttt! Meow.

Scat, cat!
