It was pretty dazzling musicianship; I guess it had to be considering the difficulty of both the arrangements and the original source material. I don't know what is better about jazz: its rule-breaking or its rule-following. Wynton was a great soloist, but also a friendly, casual emcee who kept things loose and fun for the evening. Hope that he and the LCJO come back soon.
