<quoted text>. Setting aside money to pay for retired workers is a great idea. All government agencies should do this. It is called fiscal responsibility. We tax payers should not have to pay for this overly generous union benefits.
They used to, it worked very well for a long time.
Now they take that money and gamble on Wall Street, if they lose it? Oh well.
So much for fiscal responsibility.

Under the contract, known as LogCap, Halliburton's KBR subsidiary performs a myriad of logistics services on U.S. military bases worldwide, including the construction of military housing, delivery of mail to the troops, transportation of supplies, and the preparation of meals at dining halls.... http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/news/hal.html

To be completely honest with you, I don't care about the pensions, the price of a stamp, etc. What I care about is SERVICE.

We used to use flat rate boxes and envelopes to mail products to customers around the US and the world. No more! Sure, it's the cheapest way to ship - and you definitely get what you pay for. An actual conversation with a USPS Customer Service rep:

"Your item left the country on March 6th."

"Yes, I know that. I see that when I track it online. But that was two weeks ago and my customer in Australia still hasn't received it."

"Well it left the country on March 6th."

"Right, but where is it now?"

"I don't know, sir. The tracking number only tracks it in the US, and it left the country on March 6th."

Oh, but at least they actually moved that package... unlike the multiple times I have hand-delivered my shipments to the post office, and a week later learned that the post office never bothered to send them on to the processing facility!

When I ship FedEx, UPS or DHL, my tracking number is active from pickup to delivery and my shipments actually move when the company says they will move. Yes, they all cost twice as much, but at least they actually do what I'm paying them to do, and my customers get their products in a reasonable amount of time!

They keep jacking up their PO box rates. Mine is now $120 per year! And it's a small one.
