Rock school in; Pez Museum out

let's see. there's Riverside Festival of the Arts in Riverside Park in September. there's the Easton Farmers' Market in Centre Square. maybe the Third Street Alliance. Connexions does music. i'm sure if you asked the main street initiative they could give you ideas as well.

Oddly, was shopping in Easton today. Don't go there very often, but thought a Saturday in the Holiday season, why not. I went to the new comic book store on the circle. It is really great place. Then I went over to Julie's Antiques next door. That was a total mistake. While I was there, a doctor was looking around and his cell phone rang. It was obviously his office with a patient problem and need to correct a pharmacy prescription. He cleared it up in about 60 seconds. When he was done, he went to pay for his items at the antique store. He was rudely told to leave the items there, don't touch anything and leave the store and never come back, as they have a "NO CELL PHONE" policy. Gee, what a great way to get more people downtown. Throw them out of a store. The doctor was clearly handling an emergency and did it under 2 minutes total. I can guarantee that I will NEVER shop there again. I hope your school has better manners than those wannabees.

This is absurd. Everything should be reviewed on a case by case basis.

That is so bizarre. Did you end up buying anything there?? I can't imagine turning away business in these times. How funny that a "no cell phone" policy is established to ensure a polite atmosphere, yet the store stoops to levels of rudeness that far surpass anything a cell phone user typically does.

All the local cities seem to be having budget problems, Easton is no exception. It appears as though Easton is between a rock & a hard (candy) place presently. An imaginative person could accomodate both a museum & a school. I don't have the time or inclination to work this out for them. The city is on its' own..........

I will be honest, I was totally shocked. I might have imagined they would have asked someone to leave if the phone call was the priority of that person. In this case the doctor made it fast and it was very obvious an important call. I put my two china bowls down and left. No, I did not buy from them. I bet Julie is rolling in her grave.
I used to shop when she was down below 2nd. I shopped her, Skinners, Dave Clark, Red Hawk Emporium, Tailwaggers, all of them. I never saw something so bizzare as this visit to Easton.
I will tell you the bright spot was going into the "new" (I think its only a new location) Phantom of the Attic. Cool store. I hope the Rock and Roll School does good too. We need to get rid of the stuffy and pompous. Maybe with Bixlers going, we are in right direction.

When and where can I find out about cost? I have two musicians who need an outlet (a drummer and guitarist).

Our kids will likely be too busy texting their friends telling them how much fun they were having between their songs to be talking on the phone ;)

Can't really picture any of "our kids" in an antique store on a Saturday either. I am sure they will have fun. Kids love music. We all do and did. Hope you tell them to not text while they drive around, though. Hate to see them go from their McMansions to your school in the car daddy bought them, while texting.

Oh that's right...you're the 6 month guy! You should kids a bit more credit than that.

I would bet less than 5% of our students will be driving...and we hope a lot of them hang out after day school...it would be cool if they would ride their bikes or walk to the school though!!!

We have yet to see how much your school costs. I wonder if you even know how many kids live in 'walking' distance to your proposed school. Possible some may 'bike', but I haven't seen many kids 'bike' to anywhere, yet alone to a downtown location. How many of their bikes will be left when school is over?

My wife and I traveled to Easton from Western PA a couple of years ago just to see the Pez museum. We have told other Pezheads about it, and they too have made the stop in Easton. Somehow, I don't see being drawn there by the School of Rock - it doesn't seem like it will be featured on travel brochures. However, I wish all those who have a dream the best of luck.
