Geez, I almost don't want to say anything because I am a Bachman fan but.....
What is the Order of Canada about. From the current list of recipients and other recent ones it seems to be more an entertainment industry award than one aimed at acknowledging Canadians who have served the country well. The entertainers are fine but what about the ordinary people who have done extraordinarily well in their careers, the great barber who has been serving his neighbourhood for 40 years and listened to all of their sob stories, the bus driver that everyone on the route looks forward to seeing, the social worker who teens admired and credit with having made their lives more bearable. Seems like people have to jump into rivers and risk their lives or be a star to get the medal. Seems lame to me. But congrats Randy, love your work. |
