Why the Beatles music a hundred years from now will be considered classical as Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven.

The reason I believe this is because like these past artist, the Beatles stand out alone too. For instance, the Beatles where not afraid to change the sound of their music. They could have a heavy metal sound such as "Helter Skelter" or have a light sad ballad as the song "Yesterday." To this day no rock band can be compared to them.

For example, listing to some Rock bands like the Rolling Stones, the Who, Van Halen ect, you know their bands beat, and you expect rock when you listen to their music. The Beatles however, never had the same tune, they could do rock, they could do folk music ("You've got to Hide your Love Away")or a children's tune, "Yellow Submarine".

The different variety in music they created stands out to this day, younger generations who weren't born now listen to their music, as if they were listening to a new band.

Like the classical artist of old, a hundred years from now the Beatles will be compared to them, because their music will stand out and continue reaching out to people as Mozarts music does today.

Mozarts and Bachs music is way more complex and genius than Beatles' 3 minits pop tunes. Beatles cant be comperable to classical music heroes.

I've thought about this question a fair bit from the perspective of loving both Mozart and the Beatles. I am convinced that in 200 years Beatles music will be as much a presence in culture, broadly and deeply, as Mozart's (and Beethoven's, and Bach's, etc.). The way Beatles music will survive will be by people playing it in living rooms and front porches, and at parties, etc., on guitars and pianos. Beatles music stands up beautifully in that regard. It's intensely playable, more than the work of any other rock band (far more, I think). Yes, people in 200 years will still be listening to the fabulously good albums, and creating shows in Las Vegas around the tunes, but it's in the realm of music-loving folks playing the stuff that it will really endure, more than any other rock band, and just as much as Mozart.

I dont want to compare The Beatles to Musicians from former periods, but in my opionion The Beatles were the best, most influential, most popular and many-sided artist of popular music in the 20 th century. The art musicians of that time i dont really know, but in popular music the beatles are clearly number 1.

To compare the Beatles to Mozart is like comparing a green belt in karate to Bruce Lee. totally one sided, Paul McCartney recently conducted an opera in New York and felt totally out of his comfort zone. Mozart was writing from the age of 4 and is considered the greatest musical genius of all time, he never made draft,s which was impossible for all the other great composers.

The Beatles were only made a great group because of George Martin, a classically trained musician, who steered them to greatness and without whom they would have been a good group not an exceptional one. Mozart on the other hand needed nobody to make him great as he already was.

It's comparing two different things like chess and football. Mozart is clearly the musical genius while the Beatles made brilliant tunes that people can sing and relate to. Beatles music was clearly more simple and we can all relate to the words and the great melodies. Mozart was a genius far beyond what most people can comprehend or even chose to. I think anyone would agree that Mozart's music was vastly superior but the Beatles had songs not just music and those songs and melodies (short 3 minute songs yes) required just as much intellect to catch the imagination of a whole century of people. Not quite the musical geniuses but on the whole (lyrics, singing etc.) I think they stand out and deserve to live on more so than Queen or any other great bands of the 20th Century.

I think a more focused comparison is to compare the melodic gifts of McCartney to Mozart. Both wrote many many extremely tuneful and beautiful melodies. Few in classical or popular music compare to either in that particular regard. Of course, melody is not the only component of music, nor is it the most important in many cases. Rhythm, timbre, dynamics, tonality...all can make or break the originality and greatness of a musical work. As for one commenter's remark that the Beatles were meant for parties and Mozart for serious listening, I almost want to believe the person was joking: Mozart was ultimate party music when it was composed. It is meant for both casual recreational listening as well as serious study. Same for Paul McCartney's 100s of beautiful songs.
