Our reaction to shoe-throwing says a lot about us

Full story: Asheville Citizen-Times

Remember the Dixie Chicks controversy in 2003? They said to a crowd in London, 'Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.' As a nation, we were outraged, and the Dixie ...

This nation is in a state of crisis, and a good deal of the blame lies at the feet of GWB.

Making mistakes = so easy a President could do it.

Owning up to a mistake - evidently more than GWB is up to.

Moron is certainly not my president. If I were still in the Navy, I would have had to resign a long time ago. The Dixie Chicks were way ahead of the curve, and most Americans now recognize that they were entirely correct. As a Texan, I agree with them completely.

It's a shame that Iraqi did not have better aim!!!!

Now is that anyway to talk about your President? Didn't know an enlisted man could resign in the Navy.

How dare you call the President of the US a moron, he has done as good as any of the presidents in years and most certainly better than slick Willie. I don't think for one minute you are from Texas because Texans are too proud of Bush to talk about him.

Like it or not, the reason most people in this country were not "appalled" at the shoe-throwing incident is because most people hold Bush in the same low regard. That does not mean that there is no regard for the office of the president; it does mean there is not much more than universal disdain towards Bush.

FKC doesn't need to move to any other country. He has the God given and constitutional right to express himself and you have lost my respect if you're truly a military man.

If anyone needs to move, it should be Bush and his crowd going to prison for their tortue tactics. As a military man you should know that Bush has jeopardized your future well being. That's not just my opinion, it's the opinion of numerous military officers that have spoke out against Bush and his tortue policies.

Just because he is President DOESN'T mean he deserves respect. Folks, remember he STOLE an election! Just because of that alone, he didn't deserve anyone's respect if they saw fit not to give it to him. No man is above the law in this country and he has chosen to break laws. He should be impeached and in jail for crimes and misdemeanors against the Constitution. Having a shoe thrown at him should be the least of his worries.

IF, IF he was guilty of ANYTHING, the morons you support in Congress would have run him out of town on a rail.

It would be interesting to find out just how many of these posters who demand "respect" be shown towards Bush, the most incompetent, dishonest person to every sully the White House, maintained "respect" towards Bill Clinton during Monica-gate.

As for the shoe incident:

"For the past 10 years, model 271 has been the bestseller of Ramazan Baydan's Ducati line of shoes. It's got all the attributes of a workhorse – affordable and durable, chunky, yet presentable. To these winning qualities, now add another one: throwable..."

Baydan says that demand for the shoe – now renamed the "Bye Bye Bush" model, wholesale price $27 – has been booming. Orders are coming from Iraq, other parts of the Middle East, and even the United States and Europe.

The shoemaker says he is even preparing a new advertising campaign aimed, for now, at the Turkish market. It will feature the shoe held aloft on a stick, with the words "Bye Bye Bush, Hello Peace," below it.

"This was the shoe that was thrown at Bush. People want to have it. Maybe they want to keep it as a kind of memento or souvenir," Baydan, who has dark hair and weary-looking brown eyes, says."

I don't think anyone should be telling you that what you said was disrespectful. Personally I thank you for your comment. It now frees me up to say any low down dirty underhanded disrespectful undermining thing I choose to about Obama. You just proved the point that you left liberals are hypocrites demanding us to show respect when you wont.

Grow up and get over your mindless lemming life. In every single legal count and recount ever done on the 2000 elections, Bush won. Only the ignorant and current event challenged keep bringing it back up because you simply are IQ challenged to move forward.

Should I constantly point out impeached Clinton for F******* an intern with a cigar in the Oval office and then lying (because that is all he can do) to a special prosecuter.

Personally I wish it had been a grenade. We laughed hard because it was hands down one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I laughed out loud everytime I saw the replay. It was like this great comic relief after 8 years of misery. Shoulda been on Americas Funniest Home Videos. What a perfect way to send off the worst president in recorded history. I am only sorry that one of those shoes didnt hit him square in the pie hole.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aries

Take care today Aries, because the emotional landscape in your neighborhood will be full of pitfalls during the coming fortnight, as it has been since the Solar Eclipse on May 20. The more convinced you are that you're right, the harder it will be to navigate your way around forthcoming events. If you feel resentful of someone, perhaps a neighbor or sibling, you need to get your feelings out in the open, rather than burying them deeper, where they'll fester and lead to more problems in the long run.
