I saw a documentary on this case that was aimed at strumming up support for the 3 accused/convicted of the murders and it showcased a lot of things that cast this stepfather heavily into the suspect case. There seemed to be alot of stories changing through out the investigation and a lot of evidence that got surpressed or thrown out. It certainly made me doubt the innocence of the stepfather in question and the validity of the conviction handed down on those teenagers...of course that was the films intentions. Guilt or involvement of the stepfather is not the question, though. Does he have a case? She mouthed off about her view of the situation in a very public setting and he saw an opportunity for a payday is what I think. She didn't say anything that hundreds of others haven't said already, she just had the poor judgement to say it in front of a camera.

Yes but you and I don't make a living off our "talent" i.e. singing, acting, etc. These people by virtue of their profession have power you and I do not have. When they elect to use that position for whatever purpose, then be prepared for both the postive and negative. That's my point. I am all for free speech, but it ain't "free." There is a price and people like Ms. Maines will pay for it one way or another. Personally, I would not stick my nose in business I really have "no business" being in and without some sort of absolute truth.

Mr_Obvious I agree. The more public you are the more you have to watch what you say. You and I could talk all day on a forum with a limited number of users with little impact, but when a celerity says something it is broadcasted everywhere, and people tend to believe it. The key word is responsibility.
Now I cannot find the whole story of what was said, but it seems to me she said what was already presented as evidence, something that was already made public.

He is a celeb. How about Neil Young? How about 'Alternative fuels'Willy? If one of us does not have freedom of speech then none of us do.

But trampling on others reputation isn't one of those freedoms...It 's an actionable case.

Natalie, shut up and sing. That was good advice. You would think that after ruining her career with her unwise choice of words, she would have learned the meaning of the musical term, "tacet". But, no, a smart a s s will always be a smart a s s, no matter how many times they get it kicked.

Not much in the article to go on, so I looked it up, and several people was trying to get a new trial for the West Memphis 3, and one of the reasons was Hobbs hair was found in one of the knots. I also find it funny the adoptive father of one of the other boys gave a knife as a gift that was never used but had human blood on it. Yeah, I guess if your child was murdered you'd just sit on your ass while a bimbo accused you of killing him and his friends. It isn't the least bit surprising that a scumbag like Natalie would defend other scumbags.

I could care less about the Dixie chick. NEVER liked that sone about EARL. I hated the video that showed the man being abusive, and the wife killing him and just dumping his body like it was a big joke. NOT the way to get away. Nothing funny or cute about killing someone. To many woman's sheltors to help woman. Try everything legal to get out of the relationship. She can have a opinion just like we do on this forum. WE all post our opinions all the time. She uses her career to promote her opinion. She made a STUPID statement before. I don't like the way she acts.
