Whatever this mother decided to do though her child was her choice, but is shows total ignorance using the child in such a manner. I defend to the death Natalie Maines's right to her freedom of speech. Is that not what America is all about Freedom for her comments and for all others that will or will not say what they feel.

I bet Natalie would have been all smiles if the mother had been a Dixie Chicks fan "teaching" her 2 year old to hate Bush.

Don't be upset. Freedom to protest and children go hand in hand:

If you go to the left side of the screen and click on Chimp Slapping Protest and scroll down a bit you will find a wonderful picture of two young children holding a sign that says - Bush is a punk-ass chump. Honestly, the children look quite young to understand what that means. Oh well, screw the Dixie Chicks, fuck the president, who cares, as long as we can say whatever we want, wherever we like, right? Yes, Code Pink should be allowed to protest outside Walter Reed hospital and the ACLU should protect the free speech of those who protest at military funerals. What a wonderful country we live in.

I think it's shameful how the american people have reacted to the comment Natalie made about our president..I feel she should be able to voice her opinion as we all do,,only because they are famous country singers it seems to make a difference to the people,,WHY??? People are willing to teach there children to hate because someone voices their opinion,,how sick is that!! I love you Dixie Chicks!!

Isn't freedom of expression a prime virtue of democracy? Even if you don't agree with someone's opinion, their right to express it is what makes a free society. So if you teach your children to hate the "wrong" opinion, you are stopping them from learning to think for themselves. Isn't this what happens in Iran and China and North Korea? Support free speech and be thankful you live in a country where you have the option.(great album by the way Chick!)

And they don't have to! This band is not the first to ever voice a controversial political opinion in public. Being famous does give more power to be heard, and i see that as a good thing because, one, being in the public eye, who else may have the guts to fight for what they believe in AND be heard, and two, like it or not, famous people have always been (dare i say it!) role models for free speech. You may have 'Freedom of Speech' in America but that doesn't mean your President is 'listening' to you!!!(very much like our own 'Bush sucking' Prime Minister John Howard way down here!!)

Ah ha! I have proof that the Dixies arent the only famous ones to bag Bush on stage! Check this out! Willie Nelson said 'He's (Bush) not from Texas and he ain't a cowboy, so let's stop trashin' Texans and cowboys.' It got a little chuckle, but I didn't get run out of the country,' Nelson told the magazine. Willie Nelson says the Dixie Chicks 'got a raw deal' from a disapproving public following their criticism of President Bush.'I think the fact that they were overseas and onstage had a little bit to do with it because you're speaking to other people about our business,' the 73-year-old country crooner said in an interview in this week's Time magazine.

I think it's great that America does have famous people that WILL voice their opinions, and stick up for what they believe in. I agree with the Military Wife that children should not have opinions 'forced' upon them but be encouraged to develop their own opinions from education and experience (with 'support' from parents).

IMO It’s not what she said, but where she said it. I believe had she complained to her own countrymen and women first, the fall out wouldn’t have been so severe.

The problem with the Dixie twits is only partially the the comments (about the President) themselves. Those idiots were damn well aware that their fan base was made up of mostly conservatives. They chose to bite the hand that fed them, and when their fans said they didn't appreciate it, the twits replied in essence f**k you then, we're no longer a country act, we're pop, and we don't want (or need) you as fans anymore. To top it off they twist the knife in a little deeper every chance they get ie: saying that if you're a Toby Keith fan (which obviously many country music fans are) you're a stupid hick dumb**s. Maybe the twits are the dumb**ses. Based on the fact that they're making their money off America -haters now. They gotta come home sometime.

Politicians don't get involved with music and musicians shouldn't get involved in politics. It's kind of like separation of Church And State. You don't deface our President on foreign soil! I hope they have day jobs to go back to.

I am more disappointed in the Dixie Chicks than anything else. Most Americans look to famous people as role models. What kind of role model makes comments like that about their leaders in their country. I don't agree with people sending death threats and mothers teaching their daughters to hate. I am also disappointed that they think that the only people that listen to country music are rednecks. I wish there would be some growing up on their part!

Why make nice? As a parent I would never teach my child to hate someone just because of words that came out of their mouth. We live in a time and country where anyone can say whatever they want it is called FREEDOM OF SPEECH, and if histry class serves, it is a constitutional right. You don't have to agree, but you know teaching your child to hate someone is just downright stupid and idiotic.
I support the Dixie Chicks and always will. So until everyone who thinks/feels/believes that what was said deserves to have them hated...think before you speak next time, cause God help you, you just might end up being hated by some mother and their daughter for no other reason than you opened your mouth and excercised your constitutional rights....

These are the same women who called child protective services on Natalie as a joke. Right before signing a record deal they through out their lead singer who had been with them for years and replaced her Natalie. Talk about hateful!

I meant to write "threw" not through. These Dixie Chicks say mean and hateful things quite frequently.
