Shucks, looks like another concert that I have no interest in attending. The chicks made their bed, and I think they don't realize that they've wasted their talent taking on a system that will buck back, and harder than they ever imagine.

It's really quite funny to see how Natalie is quoted so many times discussing country music's "true colors". When it comes down to the fact that we can stand up to her if we don't like her views, and she's upset that people didn't like her opinions, so therefore, we must be backstabbing traitors right?

Why is it that THE DIXIE CHICKS use thier freedom of speech and make a simple statement that they believe in about thier state and thier feelings about a man from said state and you people are excercising what you believe is your freedom of speech, to degrade them, humiliate them etc, which is actually defamation of character and you could be held liable for in a court of law, in which you are breaking the law....
They stand by thier beliefs, if arrested, charged with a crime and prosucuted to the fullest extent of the law, WOULD YOU?????

The point is that they are AMERICANS and have the right to say what they think and feel, just as you have done.
In another country they wouldn't be given the right to express such beliefs.
What did they really say that would anger you so much? And why is it that you can say this about them but they can't say it about whomever they like? Double standard or are you just being a hyprocrite???????

After everything that the man has done and said to the American public, YOU should be ashamed of how your country is being ran and by whom, quite possibly you should apologize to the Chicks, after all they are from Texas and had a right to say they were ashamed he was from Texas. You, on the other hand, really don't know if they are scum and you don't have a right to judge them, nor defame them, now do you? Or is it that you are GOD and can do that, free and clear of guilt and shame?
I am not God and I can not judge you, however I believe you need to check your bathtub for scum and see if the DIXIE CHICKS are in that vacinity and if not, find it in yourself to apologize and hope that God will forgive you of your disrespect of others.

I love this empty argument. It gets thrown around a lot in political debates. It treats the freedom of speech like some golden calf. We are the only country that has the freedom of speech in the constitution, so therefore we must be the only country that has freedome of speech! Of course, this might be news to nations like Canada, France, England, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, to name a few.

In any civilized, democratic nation, you can express your opinions, feelings, beliefs, whatever. Yes, there are many countries in which dissent is stifled, for example, many nations of the middle east, many (but not all) nations in Central and South America, to name a few. Strangely people don't seem to be moving to those places.

What people are saying with this argument is that they would prefer to have the USA become just like one of those tyrannical states. You don't like the way things are? Then you should leave. Change your mind to our way of thinking or get out. No dissent, no debate, no argument, and most importantly, no thinking.

It is not my belief they should have their opinions stifled. They just shouldn't expect to make an uneducated comment that is sure to rile their fanbase, and expect to be welcomed back in open arms. I think it is fitting they have lost what amounts to a fortune in lost revenues, because of a statement made with no forethought as to the outcome. Then to make an announcement (recently) that they don't care to be bunched in the same group as a few very respected country musicians ie; Reba etc... They want a small loyal following, they got it. Good Riddance!
I would rather spend my concert & CD budget on someone who appreciates my support and has much more talent, such as Alison Krauss & Union Station.

My son is a army soldier in Iraq and I support the troops but not Bush. I very much support also the Dixie Chicks. America is a country that has freedom of speech. Yes I love their new album.

It is so tiresome to hear the same arguments over and over and over! This argument will never be totally resolved. My complaint is that some people just repeat what they think is right/correct based on the people they listen to, without devoting some time to "think through a thought/belief". I doubt seriously that most people totally isolate friends and family that have differing points of view, so why in the world would you care that much about what an artist, singer, actor says? Do you quit going to their movies, looking at their art, listening to their music????? Folks, you just have NO idea how many people disagree with the war.....NOT the soldiers....the government and war machine.. This wonderful country allows me the RIGHT to say that. My feelings are not un-American, unless you believe war is "American".

Can we just agree to disagree and move on?????

We can agree that it was OK for the Dixie Chicks to voice their opinions. But why do you think that it is objectionable if people voice their opinions with their wallets? I don't want to buy Dixie Chicks products, since I find their politics objectionable. I think that it is GREAT that so many people agree and have boycotted the DC! It is a true grassroots effort, with which a bunch of country music fans with no voice (compared to the huge media coverage available to the DC) made themselves heard and actually made a difference! Horray for the little guys who made themselves heard!

By the way, if your friend went to a store, and the manager made remarks which your friend found to be insulting, would it be OK for your friend to tell some other friends to stop shopping at that store? Or should they all just "put it behind them". Your advice is much easier to follow if you agree with the DC's politics.

I was visiting London with my daughter's shakespeare class when the dixie chicks made their stupid remark. The fallout for visiting Americans was terrible. My daughter was called a baby killer. Yes, the chicks had security. We did not. Next time natalie needs to think about the effects her careless remarks have on others. Thanks for ruining our trip nat.

I just bought their album because I wanted to support em. Well I loved it and I'm glad I got to discover how good they are. I'm not happy to find out how stupid and retarded country music fans are. Gimmie a break! This war is going to F-UP things for years to come. I'm ashamed to be a music fan.

They can come to Australia...we'll take them with open arms and they can say similar about Little Johnny Howard (our Prime Minister...just in case you don't know) as many of us see him as George Dubya's lap dog anyway. We all detest his blind faith in the 'facts' fed...I mean ...provided to us..."what? weapons of mass destruction you say?...sure we'll help you with that"....heh...

"Al Qaida are holed up where? Afghanistan?...and when you say Afghanistan, you mean Iraq"....riiighhhtt

I think there would be resounding applause and "here here's" in response...we have had our celeb's voice their views and I think because these are popular beliefs they haven't been crucified or lynched.

I think many Americans would be surprised as to how their nation is viewed as a result of their international policies and certainly not in the good way you all would think. The Dixie Chicks were pretty close to letting you all know though and the US national response pretty much confirmed this global view.

*sighs*

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
