Some people are so idiotic and ridiculous. What in the world would Reba McEntire have to be jealous about the Dixie Chicks? Their moronic songs, or their out-of-pitch voices? Hmm...*rolls eyes*

Well I agree with the 1st part, and I'm not a fan of the D Chx, post political flap. But as a musician, and in all fairness, I can guarantee you the songs are not moronic nor are their voices out of pitch.

I have some of their older songs, "Yesterday's Wine" and some others....their harmonies are right on the mark.

BB,
I heard a great blurb on either NPR or Wisconsin Public Radio on June 25th about Bakersfield, CA and I thought of you. I think it might have been on the show All Things Considered. I cannot find it in their online archives, but I will send you the link if I find it. I had no idea the country music was so prevalent in your city.

Appreciate the thought Pauly. Oh yes, Bakersfield is often referred to as Nashville West. Merle Haggard and the late Buck Owens are both from this area. Merle often played at a place called The Blackboard, a honk-tonk that used to be right around the corner from me. It was torn down about 15-20 years ago or so.

I actually met him b4 he became a superstar, and have also been to his former residence after it was placed on the market. Huge spread east of town he called "The Hag". It has since been turned into a medical care facility for the handicapped.

Buck played at his Crystal Palace every weekend almost to the day he passed. He and Dwight Yoakum put out a song called The Streets of Bakersfield, which is still being played today.

Oildale, located right across the bridge, is mostly populated by folks who emigrated from Oklahoma, Arksansas, & Missouri, and the country music influence there has always been very evident.

<quoted text> OK so we know that you do not understand the meaning of Freedom of Speech and we know you do not respect our government and we know what your political party is, we also know that you used God to defend the dixie chicks. From all that, we get that you may go to church, you may tell people that you believe in God, you may tell people that you understand politics and religion. But you forgot to do the most important thing. Study your Bible and your History. Read the prophecies, study what they tell you about the times we are in. Study about where your ancestors came from and why they were led here to come to this place to build and fight for what you enjoy everyday. Yes we, are all Americans, but there is a time and a place for everything. Using their popularity to cause a divide in this country was just wrong. I'm old, so respect and honor mean a lot to me. No, I will not go to hell, My God and I are sure of that. I'll pray for your understanding of life, and the knowledge that right is right and wrong is wrong and there is no gray matter. By the way, you will probably be surprised to know that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, that's why I chose that party. He believed in rights for all people, I do too, but not when they are causing trouble in a world that needs no more. Good Bye and Good Luck with your Dixie Chicks.
So your saying that just because you read the bible you know all about politics, or are you saying that the bible tells people that they can't say what they feel! Because I am pretty sure that nowhere in the Bible does it say that you can't say that you are ashamed of the President, nor does it say thou must know politics!!!!!

Those of you who are jealous, ignorant, hypocrates that HATE Reba McEntire for standing up for herself, her fans, her family, and country music...GET A LIFE! So, yeah, maybe the Dixie Chicks have the right to speak their mind...but was it really necessary for them to talk crap about Reba to the whole world! Also, it is unnecessary to be so rude!
I am and always will be Reba's biggest fan!
Reba is an intelligent, talented woman who deserves respect. To all of you who cannot respect her as a human being who has feelings-and as the smart person she is, won't put up with the crap people try to say about her: GROW UP!
Reba is AWESOME, you are all just jealous!

Meanwhile, as we debate whose right or wrong, the planet is slowly destroyed by our lack of respect, our lack of thought, our lack of love, and our lack of looking at things with our eyes open. Insert sarcastic realistic part here -> I am glad the economy recovered in 2007 and that no one lost their house or jobs. Insert closing here -> Good luck to everyone; judging by your comments, you'll need it.
