"The more people who are fluent speakers and educated in the health field, the more able we're going to be able to reach this ever-growing population"??

Hopefully it won't be EVER growing. Are the people profiled in your article legal?

This article skews the facts to make it appear that immigration is not what is fueling birth rates and loss of income in the area. If more english language classes are needed, more bilingual workers are needed, this just means the parents must be immigrants because native-born people already speak the language. The loss of income can also be attributed in great measure to the illegal population. The workers most affected by this is the black and latino community. Manufacturing jobs have moved to the southern states where wages are lower in great part due to corporations actually advertising in Mexico for workers to come to the U.S. Bottom line, greedy corporations are to blame for the heavy influx of immigrants. This influx has negatively affected the country. High birth rates are the effect of immigration. Don't try to mislead us. Immigration came first and the high number of births came second. If we want to reduce this strain, we first must reduce the immigration and the logical place for this is the illegal population.

"Data" is a plural word and takes a plural verb: "Census Data Show..." not "shows." The article has it right; the headline wrong. Time for remedial English courses.

Instead of suggesting widening an increasingly diverse language gap, why not increase efforts to teaching the English language. Money spent doing this is a far wiser investment than discouraging people to be able to communicate.

well,
regardless of the parents' citizenship, the kids are considered american. and ignorance doesn't last always... those american born kids will be american taught and two generations from now as latinos are heading up corporations, no one will kno whether grandma maria couldn't speak english.

there is strength in numbers... and we will see what happens if we avg only one child per household and they 3....

spanish is the second language in this country so u better take heed... u better go some where and hablar espaņol... bcz this is not a trend u'll be able to stop. Numbers don't lie.

Unfortunatley in some areas, where schools are busting at the seams, and where school funding is supported by property taxes, this can only mean even greater tax burden, exp. for those who legitimately have only one family living on their property.

This is the truth. I used to link in Hanover Park. In my area you had about 2-3 families living in the same home. This area is way over crowded and parking has become a problem now.

As well, we had a lot of crime in my area. Mostly petty stuff like vandalism, public intoxication stuff, but still annoying. Call it racist if you want, but I personally witnessed most of the ppl committing these crimes were Latinos.

People like CaribAmerican Queen worry me the most - no concern for the implications of too much population growth for the infrastructure - no concern about eroding tax bases - no concern for a the most real possible ethnic & lingual balkinization of society since Isreal and Palestine.

CaribAmerican Queen's only thought is the joy she feels when extrapolating the numbers all the way out to the eventual destruction of European-American culture. Regardless of the progress or lack thereof of her own culture. Telling, Scary & Obvious.

Well good luck with that, any Hispanics with the brains and talent to make it to the top of the US Corporate world will mirror the Hispanics already at the top of the Latin American Corporate world...

Well I'm not threatened by their increasing numbers in this country. I get along with many of them here in CO, where before I never was fond of them back in my homestate. I think it was because I wasn't really exposed to them so I made up my OWN assumptions about them without knowing anything of them. They are doing nothing morally wrong by having children. You have to remember....these people usually set good examples when it comes to family orientation. They actually GET MARRIED, THEN have the children. I don't care if they're having ten or even fifteen children....they take care of their business and that says a lot about their character when it comes to a moral basis or family orientation period.

it was not an issue of holding a race back, it was more of an issue of "taking over". the way you talk implied taking over. as if to say, the "latinos are going to take over". you better watch out.

this is the same thing that the chinese say in mainland china with their "we're going to take over - there are 1.3 billion of us". and let's not forget the muslims who are saying "convert before it is too late".

racist - discrimination based on race or religion.

YOu are correct that numbers dont lie!!!
Now lets see what happens here in those two generations you mention!!!
Lets see, ohh geez, our country reaches its carrying capacity, over 60% of which are mexican!
And do you know what happens when a country reaches its carrying capacity???
well, what happens when you overload a boat? Overload a car? Overload a treehouse?
BOOM!
You dont get it! we are on an airplane, and it is going down! Its only a matter of time before we hit!
DEPORT!
You don't own this country. You don't own all the land beneath your feet. SO WHAT if this becomes a Spanish nation? It was native american b4 England got here. Survival of the fittest, if you DONT reproduce your genealogy ends with YOU. I don't know if having many children is a deliberate tactic... but Darwinistically speaking; IT WORKS!

I think there is a lot that the rest of the world can learn from Hispanics. I find them to be a very loving passionate, expressive culture. The men are not afraid of marriage, the women are not afraid of motherhood. None are afraid of expressing love. The women have positive self-body image, and the men like being responsible patriarchal men... CAN YOU SAY THAT FOR THE REST OF OUR SOCIETY?

Compared to the AVG American
1. The Avg white woman has negative self-body image
2. Men are afraid of marriage
3. Women are afraid to be more open about sex
4. No one wants more than one or 2 children
5. People suffer from a lack of passion
6. Sex is either a male power play or a 'disgusting' vile act

I hate to go off topic, but look at how everyone reacted when Janet's boob popped out... wanting to sue the station for "disgusting" indecent exposure! Its a breast! How can a feeding tool given to women by GOD, a natural and wonderful work of nature be bad? vile? repulsive? disgusting???
