BERETS AND SHIRTS OF A COLOR Red armies of Easton

Full story: The Morning Call

Each night, the volunteer ranks of Easton's Guardian Angels patrol the city's dark alleyways, wearing their trademark red berets and carrying only two-way radios and tiny flashlights.

I just want to thank both of these dedicated groups for helping my hometown of Easton. I feel better knowing the Guardian Angels are patrolling the troubled area of the West Ward where my 85 year old mother lives.

Some residents should also volunteer to become involved in the city clean up.

The Guardian Angels must be some of the bravest people out there. They walk around Allentown and Easton with nothing but a flashlight and red beret and "snitch," as they say. I truly admire their courage and thank them for all they do!

Yes, is nice that they are here trying to keep things safe. Hopefully they will get a few of the bums off the streets.

But, the fact remains that years ago we had decent people living in Easton and we had little crime. Now the hard working, law abiding Middle Class has mostly died off or moved away, and in their place we now have an army of welfare bums, drug dealers, high school drop outs, and gang bangers. I long for the good old days when Easton was clean, friendly and safe. I am horrified as to what has happened to my once-fine city.

I have lots of admiration for those who are trying to make it a better place. But yes, I have nothing but hatred for the bums who are ruining it for everyone. Drastic times require drastic measures. Having guys with funny berets patrol our streets is fine, but what we really need are mass executions. May the streets run red with the blood of the vermin.

The appreciation I have for the Guardian Angels stems from these facts:

They are a "civilian" force.

They mobilize to any area where the local PD needs help, and go unarmed into areas that the police can't/wont cover.

=========

THEY DO WHAT THE CITIZENS OF THESE AREAS SHOULD BE DOING !!!!

WAKE THE F'k UP, EASTON !!!

YOU ARE LUCKY-ENOUGH TO HAVE THE GA's PATROLLING YOUR HOODS, BECAUSE YOUR TOO SCARED AND MEEK TO DO IT YOURSELVES!

The Guardian Angles provide an invaluable service to every area they enter, but ONLY BECAUSE the local police are over their heads, AND the local residents are too SPINELESS to STAND-UP and defend their own neighborhoods.

So God Bless the Guardian Angels, and God Help the cowering hordes of
so-called "citizens" huddled in fear, living in Easton.

Well said Dennis Mack.
Do you know if the founder Curtis Sliwa still has a daytime TV news show?
Also what do they do with the spray bottles? Is that to spray water on dogs to keep them from attacking?

Allentown citizens should also form a group of Guardian Angels to patrol in Allentown.

Welcome Guardian Angels!

the red-shirt-wearing Easton Ambassadors, armed with brooms and spray bottles, emerge from their base in City Hall to clean up litter and help tourists.

Excellent idea to have Sal Panto walk with them on one of their patrols.

Good job to both groups, having them is a very, very good idea especially the downtown ambassadors, GREAT IDEA! If more citizens took an active part in reporting problems there would be less crime. The problem is that there are a decent amount of scumbags pushing the good people left in easton. Those few good residents that are left have to be active in doing things to improve the neighborhoods that they live in, the police aren't going to do it.

BTW, People of Easton should not rely on Sal Panto to clean things up. This guy is a political loser, PERIOD! He has one interest and that is himself and who he can award city contracts to.

Why do these residents keep electing recycled mayors?? Haven't they learned from their mistakes that it doesn't work?

hmmm...class conscienceness aside, i wouldn't call over-priced housing built to the weakest standards possible "ritzy". nor do i believe building big box comercial structures surrounded by parking on what was once farmland all the glamorous either. the burbs need to prepare for a changing of the tides. it is an unsustainable model of growth and its weaknesses are sure to be seen in time. considering that, one shouldn't cast stones. the health of our urban cores should be of importance to everyone and not reduced to some high school-esque "the burbs are better than the city" mentallity.

I have been making a similar point for years. Easton keeps electing - then re-electing - one loser after another.
