Definitely second that notion. They should be running for office because they seem to be the only people IN America that thinks WITH America and will put people in their place. I'd love to be a personal bodyguard or something of the like, ha. At least they've got some integrity.

I think it would be better as colbert stewart, i went to a taping of each show, and stewart said he didn't want to run, and at the report, a woman wearing a "stewart colbert 08" shirt asked stephen the same question and he said that it should be changed to colbert stewart.
plus i think it would be awesome if colbert did a state of the union address like "the word"

who gives a rat's a$$? the supposed importance of these guys is HIGHLY over rated / emphasized.

NEVER watched either one and what clips i've seen of their performances leads me to believe they're nothing more than typical liberal a$$hole$. not terribly funny and really not that bright, unless you're viewing it all with the maturity of a 12 year old. but have at it.

You people want to vote for a character portrayed by an actor that you saw on television.

At least we know these guys are bright (maybe a little too bright for some to "get"), thoughtful and articulate. I'm just hoping for a president who can complete a sentence without sounding like a 3rd grader.

both john and stephen are great rebuttals to the fascist main steam media.......they lost an opportunity to ask lynn cheney why her book is about clear skies when the republicans are in bed with the polluters.

so some random los angeles times people are trying to tell us who is better based on their own opinions of the shows?

This is the most retarded article I've read in a while.

This is like when you have 75 year old movie critics saying Lord of the Rings sucked.

On behalf of third graders everywhere, I find that highly insulting.

The "Coal Bare Repor" is much funnier than Stewart's show.

This question should never be settled. Stewart and Colbert were always meant to compliment each other, not have one trump the other.

The host formats are markedly different, so comparison is nonsense. Stewart does slanted recaps, Colbert does segments.

As the older of the two, I think "The Daily Show" as a whole has struggled because its format is wearing thin. It's almost a victim of its own success. Its correspondent "reports" stick to a general formula now. They got huge publicity for sending Rob Riggle to Iraq and wasted the opportunity with the same segments Rob could've done on studio greenscreen.

"The Colbert Report" also has its annoying moments. The Colbert character tends to obsess a little too much on other media (New York Times, Fox News).

Typical knot-head Republican response,"I never saw the show but I know it stinks"
Cookie, you are a poster child for the Bush Ditto-head, flat earth, brain-dead right-wing conservative lunatics.

So if you've never watched either what qualifies you to deem them not funny and not bright? Of course their humor can be somewhat juvenile (they are on comedy central), but in today's culture they are completely relevant and are more often then not able to go straight to the heart of a matter without pussy-footing around like most of the "mainstream" media.

If you take all this seriously you really need to get out more.

Fire your fact-checkers! Colbert was disqualified from having a bridge named after him in Hungary because he is not yet deceased.
