@Medra.com is ran by Willaim C Rader is a scam company that offers fetal stem cell treatment to desperate people for $30,000.

It is a scam. The sales reps use topix stem cell forums to tell their miracle tales of a cure.

This is from Rip off report. It sums up the scam.

In April 2006, my son had a motorcycle accident which resulted in a C-6 C-7 incomplete spinal cord injury. He is paralyzed from the chest down. At this time, the Bush administration closed all doors to research and clinical trials in the field of stem cells and I thought that the future looked dismal. I searched the internet for overseas stem cell therapies that held promise to possibly improve my son's disability.

I came upon the Medra.com website and watched and read the patient/parent testimonials of children and adults whose disabilities and diseases claimed to improve dramatically from Dr. William C Rader's fetal stem cell injections. One such SCI patient, Ricci Kilgore, a paraolympic gold medalist claimed that prior to the stem cells, she was unable to walk and the Doctors gave her no hope of ever to walk again. After receiving the stem cells, she is now walking with braces. I also watched a video in which she appeared before the Texas state congress, testifying to the miraculous improvements from the stem cells.( I know now that her story is a lie and I have documented proof to the contrary).

In addition, a parent John Brower, also on the Medra infomercial, claimed that his son Jake was brain dead, after contracting a fungal infection in the brain. The doctors had no hope that he would ever recover, and advised that the Brower's pull the plug on his life support machine. He was even given last rites as the website indicates. Needless to say, Jake had lost all verbal, cognitive and motor skills. However, after receiving the stem cells, Jake aka Brian's parents claim that he regained his eyesight, his ability to talk, think clearly and walk with assistance ( As is the Ricci Kilgore story, Jakes miracle story is a lie and I have documented proof to the contrary).

Although at the time, the infomercial peaked my interest, I was still very skeptical. I needed more information and wanted to talk to patients/parents who had both negative and positive experiences. I continued to search the internet and found a fetal stem cell Topix forum. After reading the posts of patients who affirmed that Rader's stem cell injection worked, I posted asking for information both positive and negative about Rader's results with SCI patients. I was immediately contacted by the Lisa Brower, mother of Jake aka Brian. We talked for 4 hours about her son's so called miraculous recovery and the magnificent Dr. Rader. During one of our conversations, she told me that Dr. Rader was at risk of being shut down by the pro-lifers, media and pharmeceutical companies and since the stem cell injection was not FDA approved, me and my son would have to travel to the Dominican Republic to Dr. Rader's clinic. Also ,she emphatically told me on several occasions that she was just a mom and in no way an employee of Medra and was not getting paid to network her experience. I found out much later, that Lisa Brower is one of Medra's sales reps and her husband John is Rader's patient relations manager.

After our conversations,I had built up a trust with Lisa who directed me to contact Dr. Rader. During our brief conversation, I asked Rader how many of his SCI patients had improved and how many did not. He told me that all of his SCI patients had improved.(This is a lie, since Ricci Kilgore is the only SCI patient to come forward with her outright lie) I also asked Rader to give me contact information of SCI patients that he had given the injections to but he was not willing to do this. He claimed that he had to protect the privacy of his patients.

Although red flags were blazing and my gut told me that this could be a risky scam, my son and I decided to go for the injection. We thought that if we didn't, we might regret our decision for the rest of our lives.

I was required to wire $30,000 to an offshore bank in the Bahamas, prior to the injection.(I must have lost all my sensibilities). The only other thing that was required was to fill out a medical history form for my son. There was no pre-exam required.

I booked our trip with a travel agent who was very familiar with Medra and the accomadations that my son needed. We arrived in Dominican Republic and were picked up in a van by a Medra employee who took us to the suggested La Romana vacation resort. That day, we met about 10 people who were there to get the stem cell injection. They had varying diseases and disabilities. We all became friendly and ate dinner together that night. I collected their contact information in order to keep in touch with them in the coming months to check on their improvements.

The following day, I was contacted by a Medra employee and given a scheduled time for my son's procedure. We were picked up and taken by an unmarked inaccessible handicap van by 2 Dominicans, without any identifying verification that they were connected to Medra, driving past ramshackle huts and marijuana plantations, to a vacation resort cookie cutter house in a deserted complex, which was under construction. We were led to believe that we were going to a clinic and would be seeing Rader. Rader was not there. Instead, we were greeted by Raders' wife, Debra, who has no medical license. At this point, I am not sure if Rader has a medical license

We were escorted into one of the bedrooms. A supposed Dominican pediatric nurse came into the room and set up an IV into my sons arm, which supposedly was used to flush the stem cells through the blood. She took a drop of his blood and put it on a slide to supposedly check his blood type for the proper stem cells. After she left, we saw her through the window walk to the house next door. Within 5 minutes she walked out of the house with a white cooler. She entered our room with a syringe of supposed stem cells. She injected my son's abdomen in 3 sites and the remaining concoction was inserted into the IV line. The process took about 5 seconds to administer. The IV drip was obviously just a prop to make the procedure look legit and to prolong the process. Right before receiving the stem cells, I was asked to sign a release form that stated that I would not to go to the media or special interest groups that may be damaging to Rader. I was in shock and said I would not sign such a form, since I intended to tell of our experience. Within 5 minutes, Rader called me to assure me that he wanted me to tell of my experience (and this is exactly what I'm doing). He just didn't want the pro-lifers to come down on him. About 45 minutes later, the so called procedure was finished, with about 1/16 of the IV bag depleted. We were given no paperwork, instructions or Chain of custody to document the authenticity of the stem cells. Just Good-bye and have a nice time. Once we returned to the resort, we discussed the procedure with the rest of Rader's patients that we met and they all agreed that the whole process looked shady.

After the 6 months suggested waiting period for the stem cells to take effect, my son had no improvements whatsoever, so I began contacting the people I had met. None have had any improvement whatsoever to this date. Five including my son were SCI patients.

I returned to the Fetal stem cell Topix board and aired my complaint. My son was immediately called by John Brower, who tried to bribe him with a free stem cell procedure and an all expense paid trip back to the DR, with the stipulation that the complaint be removed from the Topix board. He refused and stopped answering the persistent phone calls from John Brower. I know 2 other people in our group that were offered the same deal and both accepted. These people still have not had any improvement after the second injection.

Furthermore, a friend of mine wrote a negative response about Medra on the Topix board. She was called by John Brower from a anonymous phone number, threatening her several times to recant her post. A police officer on the Topix board was also threatened by Brower.

At this time we know that Medra is operating in the Dominican Republic and Tijuana. The location in the DR has changed many times, as has the cost for the stem cells and the payment method. It is very probable that their operation has expanded to other locations and may have other names.

In order to get a clearer idea of how Medra operates, please google Fetal stem cells Topix and it will take you right to the forum. The board gets very informative and shocking from page 17 on..

If you or anyone you know is thinking about getting an offshore stem cell treatment please beware.

In February of this year, I had learned of a company called Medra Inc. that provided stem cell treatments out of country that was curing several diseases and disabilities. The information on the website looked very promising and the telephone conversations sounded very promising in a cure or improved symptoms for ALS. I spoke with John Brower and he told me that Dr. William Radar had treated 25 patients with ALS and every single patient had improved. Having a top notch doctor I quickly called her and told her of this company. She reviewed the website and immediately told me this was a scam.

I notified John Brower of her opinion and he assured me that doctors are good in their respected areas of expertise but had no clue or experience with stem cell. John told me that this is common with their company and the stem cell treatments that they provided always humbled doctors when patients got better. I asked John for references from ALS patients who had the stem cell and to speak with them about their experience and improved symptoms. John told me he would get me some names though usually these people did not want to speak with people. I told him I found this odd since a person with ALS would step up to speak with another ALS patient wanting them to have a chance to get better. I told him I would announce it to every single patient I knew if I had even the slightest improvement. He quickly told me that Dr. Radar wanted his patients to be quiet about there experience and not talk about it since the FDA does not approve of stem cell in the US.

John told me that he would get me an ALS patient to speak with regarding Medra and how they improved. During this waiting period I received two phone calls from Medra trying to sign me up for a treatment. When I told them I was waiting on a reference they had John call me back and he told me that he had spoken with Dr. Radar who contacted John and get a hold of me as quickly as possible and arrange for me to get the treatment. He had Dr. Radar get on the telephone and tell me he could treat me and he would speak with my doctor regarding the procedure.

My doctor spoke with Dr. Radar and listened to him for 10 minutes talk about the people with diseases and disabilities he had cured including ALS patients. She inquired about the treatment and he told her how he injected the stem cell under the skin. She called him out on this procedure and told him this had no medical value. He could not provide an answer of how the injection worked or any type of medical journals or information to back up his success. She called me and said he was a fraud and people like him upset her because they give false hope to patients.

John called me up and asked if I was ready to do the treatment. I notified him of my doctor's opinion and he reminded me that she had no clue about stem cell. I told him that I had recently found out about an ALS patient who came to Medra twice and never improved. He changed his story and told me that not all ALS patients see improvement. John said that Dr. Radar could help me because I had minimal symptoms. He assured me that he would get a patient with ALS to speak with. John learned that I had been in law enforcement for 13 years. He told me that he was a former NYPD officer and had a medical retirement after a breathing condition due to 911. He told me that Radar cured him with stem cell and he then began to work for him. This never came up in previous conversations. John said I was a perfect candidate for stem cell and I should get this done ASAP, as I would have a very good chance of a full recovery. He also promised me a discount for being a cop and called me back later that day to notify me that Debra Radar was giving me a discount from $30,000 to $27,000.

That weekend I bagan to google Medra and learned on a Topix board that Medra is fraud. I sent a letter attaching a posting from the Topix board along with waiting for 3 months for a previous ALS patient to speak with that it was time to put up or shut up. John called and notified me that I was no longer a suitable candidate for their treatment. I told John I would do everything in my power to shut down Medra Inc. I have told my story on the Topix board to help others.

John sent an anonymous email to my employer which backfired on him. When I learned in 2002 he was arrested by NYPD for soliciting a prostitute while employed as a NYPD officer his lies of a medical retirement due to 911 was an outright lie. He usually poses on the Topix board under aliases but when I posted the info he came out of hiding to post that He was a hero of 911 and did receive stem cell from Radar for some different disease he had originally told me. He threatened to sue me as well. He quickly erased the posting though it has been saved. Medra, the Radars and the Browers are liars and cheaters. They prey on people with diseases and disabilities that are desperate in finding a cure. They will be prosecuted and sent to prison. They need to be exposed!

Medra's Miralce patients from the Medra website

Brian's miracle is from the Medra website

TAKE NOTE:

My son Brian suffered a series of debilitating strokes following a rare infection of his brain in December 2003 at the age of 5

Although he was improving, eventually Brian was left blind, unable to speak, could only minimally move only his right side and appeared to be extremely cognitively impaired.

This continued for three years until I found Dr. Rader who agreed to treat Brian with the Fetal Stem Cells.

Now look at tje link below. Jake Brower aka Brian's Miracle toting another stem cell doctor in august 2006 before going to Dr Rader.

As you can see, the boy was eating and walking assisted before Medra and Dr Rader. Surely this is a not a SEMI VEGETATIVE STATE.-NOTICE SOME OF THE SAME PICTURES are USED . See the thank you letter to the Doctors for giving Jake a miracle.!

TRUTH : HOPE FOR HANNAH

Hannah, on the video it says her EEG is returning to normal and her brain is healed.

Go to the Medra website and check out the video. You will not believe how the video misrepresents this child's recovery.

But her mom's journal tells THE COMPLETE STORY

http://www.hopeforhannah.ca/journal_may_09.ht...

Our neurologist came in on Thursday afternoon and broke the news to us that we were already expecting. Hannah’s EEG is much worse (although she is sick). She is having very frequent absence, atypical absence and complex partial seizures that are very difficult to detect with the naked eye. These are often called,“subclinical”. She also had the three tonic seizures. He changed her emergency medication from Ativan to intranasal midazolam because Midazolam is stronger, and has a quicker onset than Ativan. He arranged for Oxygen to be installed in our home because her oxygen saturations drop after seizures and this can increase brain damage. He ordered a repeat MRI to see if there has been any change from the previous 2 MRI’s that she has had. He is looking for atrophy or areas of dysgenesis in the brain. He also ordered a muscle biopsy to complete the full metabolic/genetic screen from 2 years ago.

Bengal track athletes injured in accident
By Journal Staff

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) Three Idaho State University freshmen track and field athletes were injured last weekend in a one-car accident while driving back to the school from Reno, Nev.

Ricci Kilgore, Paul Litchfield and Nick Herald were driving in a van that hit a patch of black ice and skidded, overturned, then rolled on Sunday. Litchfield, who was driving, and Herald both were shaken but did not require medical attention.

Kilgore was thrown from the vehicle and landed nearly 30 feet away. She suffered a broken back and was taken by Life Flight to Washoe Medical Center in Reno.

Kilgore remained in stable condition Monday night and reported feeling nothing from her knees down. That was an improvement from 12 hours previously, when Kilgore had no feeling from the waist down. She was scheduled for surgery on Tuesday.

Kilgore was a pole vaulter who competed late in the year for the Bengals. Herald and Litchfield were multi-event specialists

ISU pole vaulters surgery successful

By The Journal Staff

RENO, Nev. Ricci Kilgore, the Idaho State University freshman pole vaulter who was injured in a car accident on Sunday as she and two other freshman athletes returned home from a trip to Reno, Nev., underwent surgery Tuesday morning to relieve pressure on the injured part of her broken back.

The surgery was termed a success by hospital medical staff. Feeling was restored throughout her legs and the medical team that performed the operation said she should regain full use of her legs.

Kilgore, who attended Reno High School, was driving back to Pocatello with Nick Herald and Paul Litchfield, when their van encountered black ice about a mile east of the I-84/I-86 junction and flipped.

Kilgore, who was sent out of the back window of the van, was thrown 30 feet and broke her back upon impact. The affected vertebrae is located in the lumbar region, almost straight back from the belly button. Herald, who was driving, and Litchfield did not require medical attention.

Kilgore was taken to Cassia Hospital in Burley, Idaho, then Life-Flighted to Washoe Medical Center in Reno.

Her surgery began at 11 a.m. local time and entailed cleaning out the bone fragments from the ruptured vertebrae, straightening out the two vertebrae above the injured one to relieve pressure, and grafting bone from her hip to reconstruct the damaged segment.

Paul Heglar, her high school track coach, said that everything could not have gone better, regarding the surgery Tuesday.

By The Journal Staff

RENO, Nev. Idaho State freshman Ricci Kilgore has progressed to outpatient status, two months after suffering a broken back in a traffic accident here.

Kilgore, a pole vaulter for the Idaho State track and field team last fall, was thrown from a van on the way back to Pocatello from Reno, Nev., on March 19. During the initial hours following the accident, Kilgore had no feeling in her legs or toes.

Surgery was performed after the accident to repair the injured vertebrae and the long road of recovery started with physical therapy sessions to strengthen the area around the injury. Kilgore does about 90 minutes of work with her physical therapist each day, then does an additional three hours of work on her own. Because of her hard work, Kilgore can now recover in the comfort of her own home.

Paul Heglar, her track coach at Reno High School who has been with Kilgore throughout the ordeal, said the physical therapy is currently focused on strengthening her legs, specifically the hamstrings. Kilgore lost a lot of weight initially after the accident, but has put back on nine pounds in the past few weeks.

They are working with her everyday in the walker and working on her holding her own weight, Heglar said. They are trying to regain muscle.

Kilgores goal is to pole vault again, but for the immediate future her focus is on therapy, in the hopes of re-enrolling in college next fall or the following spring.

Peddling hope and stem cells
Linda Oatley

Open Door - August 2009 page 9

I can appreciate what people chasing stem cell cures are doing. At one point there, during the early weeks and months of my diagnosis, I would have done anything and gone anywhere for the cure. That's the key.

My symptoms began in 1998. Originally I self-diagnosed myself as having a trapped nerve of some sort. I went to a chiropractor and on to a physiotherapist and it was the physio who first mentioned that it might be neurological. From there it was to the GP for a referral to a neurologist and then a MRI before I was told that it was MS.

It was the mental side of coming to terms with MS that was so much more traumatic than any physical effects. I was not unaware of what MS was on an intellectual level, but I was scaring myself to death and I thought I was going to die.

Of the people I know through the neuro-physiotherapy clinic where I am a trustee, there is one young woman with MS who has spent £13,000 to travel to Europe for stem cell treatment. It was useless - there is no change at all, if anything she has probably become marginally worse. But she is a young woman who needs an electric wheelchair that she can only operate some of the time. I don't think I could have been the one to say 'Don't do it'.

I also know a young man who has very jerky movements and his speech is quite slurry. He uses a wheelchair and needs three physiotherapists to help him stand. Every week, he asks me,'Linda, when are we getting these stem cells? Where are they?' I tell him it could be five years or maybe 10, I really don't know. I say the same stuff to him every week, but he's young, he's got to wait, it will, hopefully be there for him in a legitimate way, some day very soon. I know if he could afford it, he would travel abroad for treatment.

To explore the 'hope' offered by overseas stem cell clinics I accepted an invitation from the BBC's Panorama programme to participate in a report they were putting together on the sale of foetal stem cells for neurological diseases.

Through its website, I contacted a company called Medra (www.medra.com ) which sells treatment with foetal stem cells collected in eastern Europe. I arranged to have the treatment for $30,000 at their clinic in the Dominican Republic, where I would be treated by with the principal Dr William Rader. Naturally I had no intention of going through with the process.

I travelled to the Dominican Republic in March accompanied by Jim, the BBC producer who was to play the part of my 'brother'. This was not as exciting as it might sound. It was hot and sticky, the food not very good and the Dominican drivers are total nutcases. I was also a tad nervous about what was to come. Medra had wanted to know flights, room numbers, etc, which I felt was scary. We were not given any information about the clinic or where it was - they held all the cards.

On the day of the appointment, Jim and I spent the morning practicing our parts and he kitted me out with a mini camera which looked like a button with the gubbins strapped around my waist. Jim also had a mini camera in his filo-fax case. The plan was for me to get Dr Rader to say on camera what he had said to me on the phone - that the stem cells would remyelinate the nerves and I would get back full functionality and that he had seen MRI scans that showed damaged nerves repaired and all scars disappear.

We were taken by mini bus to a Spanish Colonial beach house and reversed into a court yard behind high gates. We were left alone for a while with white coated people coming and going…a fantastic view of the sea through wafty curtains but still behind a gated fence. Whilst we sat there I saw Dr Rader holding court and I also saw travels cheques changing hands. Based on the activity, Jim and I afterwards calculated that about $120,000 changed hands every hour! There are two days of clinics per month that we know about; small wonder that he's a millionaire!

We were shown to a treatment room with a small bed and medical paraphernalia on a bedside table. A few minutes later Dr Rader came in with a young assistant and asked again how he could help me. I played the nervous patient, which was not much of a stretch! I said I was worried and what could he tell me about the treatment, how does it work and is it safe, etc. He made all of the same comments he'd made before, which is what Jim had wanted.

We now had to get out of there. I said I needed a few more minutes to get used to the idea and get over my nerves. Perhaps we could come back tomorrow. He was telling me, and encouraging Jim to tell me,'Linda, you've got to have this injection.' This was akin to foot-in-the-door double glazing salesman tactics, it was hideous. He basically saying,'Let me, the clever doctor who knows better than you, decide what's best here.'

There is an intimidation factor around doctors, and people like Rader play on that. Why would you not believe him? He's standing there and saying 'I've treated 1,000 or 1,500 patients, 40 with MS and I've seen spectacular results so don't worry, just trust me.' But I knew more about him than most would. I knew of his previous incarnation on TV and that he is qualified as a psychiatrist. I knew he is a qualified doctor, but not in any sort of discipline around neurology.

In any event I talked us into the courtyard area to think again. We had decided at some point that Jim would go back to the reception area and say his 'sister' was now a bit hysterical - also not a stretch since I was so nervous I actually wanted to giggle. By coincidence another mini bus had just backed into the courtyard and Jim was able to bundle me and my chair into it as another lady with MS got out with her husband.

Jim was delighted with all the footage we had and I was just relieved. We changed hotels, just in case, and we left the island the next day. So that's why I've changed my name to Bond, Jane Bond!!

Dr Rader was given the right of reply and was interviewed in his Californian home. When he was asked about scientific proof and medical outcomes he was very angry and threatened the BBC with his attorney before eventually deciding that any publicity was good publicity.

In the finished film he says, "In the long run it doesn't hurt me so long as you spell my name correctly because patients don't give a damn what you say about this intellectual shit... We will get patients from this."

Labeling Dr Rader and his operation a scam is a complete falsehood. I am known by the media as one of my Cities Most Successful Fundraisers. I was previously in charge of telephone sales for Australias Leading Personal and Professional Development Organisation.
I am a sales author, and one of the things I am good at is spotting a sincere character, and spotting a phoney.
Dr William Rader at Medra is one of the most sincere people I have encountered.

This whole Blogg appears to be the work of a disgruntled Patient, who did not get the results expected.
Dr Rader does say "I cannot promise any individuals recovery" - that to me is as honest as anyone could be.

Me? I have primary progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
I am going for treatment in 2 weeks... Watch my progress.

Dr Rader says "I expect ALL my MS patients to get better, some who were in wheelchairs are now walking".

Let,s put an end to this sorrowful attack on a gentleman who is on the edge of accetable medical proceedures.
Think of all the patients especially young kids with degenerative diseases who have benefitted from his proceedures.

I hope one day when the truth is really known, that you will appolagise for your attacks.

As for Panorama, I got on the phone to the producer 'Jim'. And did you see last weeks ITV report on the little girl who went to china? SHE CAN NOW SEE!!- although Panorama says she cant. Even her parents say " We know our daughter- and we know she can see!- Panorama is a Great Programme, I love it, but they 'Blew It@ with this one.
Good on ya ITV!!
Why not watch MY reedit of the Panorama programme -

you are insane! Medra has been proven to be a scam time and time again. The Ripoffreport has overwhelming documented proof that even an idiot like yourself could understand. The little girl that went to Beike is not seeing. She's as blind as a bat. Her parents, the Clarkes are working for Beike to recruit patients and make money. Dr. Rader is a sociopathic megolamaniac and of course he acts sincere, dimwit. NOT ONE OF DR. RADERS PATIENTS HAVE IMPROVED FROM THE SNAKE OIL HE PEDDLES! Let me Repeat to the desperate and delusional who can't handle the truth. NOT ONE OF DR. RADERS PATIENTS HAVE IMPROVED FROM THE SNAKE OIL HE PEDDLES!

I want to know what documented proof you were able to obtain regarding Dr. Rader's patients lying about there conditions and treatment outcomes. We are scheduled to provide fetal stem cell treatment to our son and I was so concerned about what you wrote. We have only heard positive and feel we must hear both sides before leaving for the Dominican republic. Thank you.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Taurus

Be careful if you're supposed to be saving money, because it's likely to fly through your fingers in no time at all today. You're open to all sorts of delicious impulses now, such as splashing out your hard- earned cash on little treats or big purchases. Indulgence is the key here, and you'll also want to push the boat out if you're going to a restaurant for a meal. You'll work your way through the menu, regardless of the cost.
