County Court wrote: <quoted text> HI SkillsKiller I am very impressed. Actually the court sent me forms to fill and submit before 20/06/11 and in this forms there is a option to choose regarding Mediation and I believe this is the service which you used and thats'y I like to take your advise that shall I click on this option? or just fill the forms and covering letter and go for hearing? what do you think what will be the better way? Regards County Court I would definately go through the mediation service, but they and Skillstrain will try and get the amount claimed, by you, down. They will say that you have benefited from the course even if you didn't. I went along with this, although I insisted that doing their course did me more damage than good, and lost in excess of £300 and received £900. They, Skillstrain or Media Services Ltd, will also offer you no refund but the cancellation of the CCA. Barclays will not give up that easilly and if you are willing to go through the hassle for another two years then accept the money. It's your choice. If you do contest the matter with Barclays go through the Financial Ombudsman Service but there are letters that you will need to send to Barclays before it gets to that stage. If you require these I will send them and maybe a link with instructions, if I can find the link which is somewhere on Consumer Action Group.

Hi did anybody managed to get their refunds sorted. I am in the same boat but I have a little bit different situation, i had enquired about heating and plumbing course but signed up for plumbing only. the contracts and other things the same. The salesman gave me the books and everything in the carpark after I handed in the £100. and guess what it turned out, the books are for heating and plumbing. I needed to change my address and googled it and found all these comments, i wanted to cancel it but was too late, so I decided to carry on from September. But couple of days ago, I got a text that my payment has not gone through so transfered some money from the other bank A/c but did not check it as i was busy in work and when I checked there was enough money (£110.00 is for the course) already plus the one i transferred. then i receive a phone call from a unnamed number from the loan company saying I have not paid. I said i will sort out and give a call back tomorrow. went to the bank, no problems but the money has not gone through. that phone woman was asking for my details again. What the hell. So, i asked the lady from the bank to cancel the direct debit. Came home and got really pissed by the contract, I could only cancel the loan within 14 days from the later date signed by me or the company. Guess what the salesman forgot to sign on their behalf. I am currently getting help from solicitor, he said I am entitled to refund if there has been breach of contract. and oh yeah, they took my money without approving and how come I am their student and obliged to pay when i haven't paid them. But only if things could be as easy. but wish me luck.... and good luck to you all as well. After this is sorted I will start my own campaign to shame these companies.

telemicus wrote: @dss Don't give up. Decide on what grounds you feel you deserve a refund and then work to prove you are correct. In my case I was sold a course to include tutoring, classrooms, examinations etc only at a value of £3000 and instead received workbooks and an online marking system that I would value at no more than £300.(Misselling and misrepresentation) And, sold a course on the strength of endorsements from companies like Microsoft that were falsely stated (Misselling and misrepresentation) When did you make your complaint - is your finance with Barclays - see my comment above also. The worst you can do is waste some time pursuing it. Hi I am currently in the same boat and was sold the same and received nothing. I have now found out that the certification I enrolled for is obsolete and has been since June2011. Did you get a refund based on your claims and if so how. I have written to Barclays finance and skillstrain and both are denying my claims. I am really stressed as I ahve cancelled my direct debit of £75 per month and have already paid over £2000. Any advice would be most appreciated

Hi I also took the Scheidegger Touch Typing course one evening a week and it was fantastic. It can't be the same company I was looking it up for my children to learn it too (rather than the two finger jab approach) I was in my teens when I learnt it so over 25 years ago. What a shame if it is the same because it was truly brilliant! Lisa wrote: I was really shocked when I read these reports from good honest people. Back in 1985/86 I took the Scheidegger Touch Typing course (one evening a week). the tutor was fantastic and so was the course and materials. What on earth happened to Scheidegger - were they taken over by another company or what. I got top grades in my RSA's and very good jobs due to the quality and speed of my typing (which was thanks to Scheidegger). I am going to have to do some research on what happened to them. It is such a shame.

I also did an evening touch typing class with this lot around 1985/86, the classes were in a church hall in Ealing, West London and I passed my course easily enough with the thorough training we were given and my typing skills helped me get jobs through the 80s and early 90s until I moved onto more senior roles. I don't know what happened to the company but I thought they were brilliant, maybe they got taken over and were unable to move with the times... What a shame!

They got taken over by Metropolitan International Schools Ltd. and then went into ripping students off. I too took a Bookkeeping course in the 80's and it was good, but unfortunately Scheidegger got bought out by this new bunch of charlatans.
Be careful people, this company will bring you nothing but misery and financial hardship.
