Referees are notorious for bad calls.

I've read that there are hieroglyphs in the tombs of pharaohs complaining about lawyers too.

2,000 years and they're still the same. That's a sad record.

When they yelled, kill the umpire, they actually killed the umpire.

They didn't have no referees in ancient Rome. Gladiators usually fight to death. He should have blame it on the emperor he is the one that make the final decision.

I don't think so. I think this guy is misinterpreting the saying:

"After breaking my opponent Demetrius I did not kill him immediately," reads the epitaph of a fighter named Diodorus. "Fate and the cunning treachery of the summa rudis [referee] killed me."

I don't think he did not kill him immediately because a friggen' Ref stepped in, I mean come on, this was the Roman Colosseum, around 100 B.C.

I think it was his decision.

If the Gladiator had Georgius Bushius run up to him, and blow his whistle - or Roman horn - and say: "Stop!!! Don't kill him!!!!" "Ref says!!!!!"

That Gladiator would have first killed HIM and then his opponent.

The saying would have read:

"After breaking my opponent Demetrius I did not kill him immediately, because a SLOWTARD ran into the Coliseum blowing is fcking whistle! I slew the slowtard then ran my sword through my opponent" reads the epitaph of a fighter named Diodorus. "Fate saved my life."

Maybe blaming the emperor was what really got him killed and the engravers of the epitaph feared the same fate if they would have written what really happened.

Nah, Marcus Aurelius was an emperor who could accept blame.

He also would NEVER allow referees in a gladiator fight.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
