Great article...well put. I am one of those devoted longtime Rush fans who take the music very personally. Can't wait for the show... nothing like a good show from talented musicians who can play a technically challenging set faithfully.

Rush NEVER disappoint live. Going on 35 years...still putting out relevant material and unparalleled live performance. Honesty and integrity abound with this band. You will never see a "farewell" or a "reunion" tour from Rush

That was a treat and more. Just got in from the Sunrise show.
The old songs are so appreciated and the new are inspiring. Rush Sunrise Right On! :) |

These guys are the benchmark for coolness, credibility and creativeness. And I have only really been into them for about 3 yrs...

Great show last night and the best seats I have ever been lucky enough to have - floor 7th row in front of Alex
I had a blast and the guys were great |

Rush has been asked to play on SNL and other late night talk shows many times over the years, but has always declined because they are better than that and their preformance would have to be scaled way down and wouldn't really be representative of them live. So don't act as if S&L is some elusive privledge that only a few "hip" bands can have, Sean Piccoli.

Always a good read about RUSH. Geddy hits the nail on the head. Who wants to hear a song you love being played in a lame fashion. RUSH never disappoints in concert! Long Live RUSH.

there is one Simpson chapter where Geddy Lee was singing "Take off" to introduce Toronto city, when Bart did flight to Toronto.
So, not only South Park has that kind of connection with Rush, also the Simpsons. regards! |

1 True fans showed up in numbers and enthusiasticaly watched a sonic blast turn into a 3 hour rock clinic. Rush is a testament to professionalism and musicianship. Their age (all into their 50's) or time together (well over 30 years) hasn't diminished any of their considerable abilities. It was also nice to see them enjoying themselves on stage, after the time they've put in, they certainly deserve it. |

I enjoyed the preview article on Rush but I'm confused as to why there was no show review published here (or did I miss the review?)

I attended Sundays show. My 32nd time seeing Rush since 1974. I was there as a hugh fan from the very start of there first album "Rush" (Before the Professor), to "Snakes & Arrows". They rocked the 70's and set the standard for progressive rock music. Back then I was their only Black fan as it remainds today. I remember when they blew the walls off of the Arogon Ballroom and the International Amphitheater in Chicago. As they did this past Sunday at Sunrise Bank Atlantic Center. They have not diminished any of their musical skills playing today more that 34 years as if they are still in their 20's. If they live to play another 30 plus years. I'll be there. Rush will never disapoint their fans doing it their way. Rush on.

All the '70s bands that went ultra-commercial in the '80s such as Rush and Heart are now returning to their roots and are all the better for it! I'd advise anyone who likes Rush to buy their new live album 'Snakes and Arrows Live'.

Jim, I confess I stayed home that night. It was a judgement call, and a debatable one, I know. But having done the preview, I figured I could pass this time on the review. Plus I'd reviewed a show on the 'Feedback' tour - different album and occasion, granted, but the basic issue is, I feel like I've got a finite amount of (hopefully) interesting things to write about a particular band, and it's often better to put more time between stories/reviews so the copy doesn't read like I'm repeating myself or really scraping for insights. I wish there were a second reviewer here at times like these to provide a different voice and a fresh perspective, but unfortunately that's not in the paper's budget. Anyways, hope that explains (if it doesn't excuse) the absence of a review. |
