This article made me disgusted with the book. I would have enjoyed the book if it had been marketed as a work of fiction. But Burroughs made the "Finches" look disgusting in order to make a profit. It makes me angry that this book was a #1 NY Times bestseller. I don't trust memoirs anymore after what has happened with this book and Frey's A Million Little Pieces. Not that I blame them. If I were to write a memoir, I would sensationalize events. I just think it was a low blow for him to portray the family like that, especially if the events were exaggerated/false And I don't know why people like the book better than the movie. I like the movie better. |
