I'll be glad when we can "judge a man by his character". If that was the case, the socialist Bobby Scott (card carrying member of the Democratic Socialist of America) would not be where he is and Obama would certainly NOT be where he is. There are many fully qualified blacks that would be excellent presidents or any other position, he is NOT one of them. Obama did NOT get where he is by experience or character.

A sad commentary on Black America when only a tiny handful of its males can attain a minimum grade of a B (in an inflated system) and consider themselves as scholars. Used to require an "A".

So what you are saying Mr. Squires is that there are several EDUCATED Rap stars? Aren't they the ones that 'herotise' killing the white man, the cops, each other and f ing their mothers, sisters and any ole thing out there? Wow...I'm impressed with the entire race...NOT!

I think 377 is more than a tiny handful, and the "inflated system" that you refer to, I suppose, are AP classes which are weighed heavier than standard ones. Of course, that is because the courses are more rigorous and challenging. Furthermore, I think a lot of the classes now don't even use the old 10-point grading scale, so it is even more difficult to attain an A or B.

The problem I have with this article is that there is the following passage:

"Hopefully, more and more youths will heed that warning, and our community will move closer to a day where scholarship in general — will be celebrated with the same fervor as we celebrate our star athletes and entertainers;" however, the 3rd and 4th paragraphs extol the virtues of two hip-hop artists...Kanye West and Sean Combs.

I hardly consider Sean Combs to be a role model for youth, despite his wealth and notoriety. From what I understand, he never even graudated from college. I don't think Kanye West did, either. How can they be lauded for scholarly accomplishments when both of them may have been dropouts?

If you want to hold up a real role model, how about Dr. Ben Carson?

"377 black males — holding 3.0 GPAs or better." Yeah, that is quite sad. You put that many scholarly black males in one place and you can barely see them all, it's that "tiny" a handful. But you would think there would be more academnic achievement in the Black community if you follow the regular daily news stories. The numbers just don't add up (using the "new" math or the "old" math). A black scholar "A" is really a white scholar "C" anyway, right?

The Daily Press needs to get software that authenticates name, address, and picture before comments are allowed to be made. The websites that do that have just as much dialogue but less off the wall commentary like this site.

While conducting a recent inspection of the community, it was noted that several units have firewood stored on the patios and balconies. Firewood MUST be stored in a rack designed for storing firewood. Firewood stored directly on the patio or balcony floor will attract termites. In addition to elevating the firewood, please make sure the wood is not pressed up against the building structure. Any firewood that is not properly stored will be considered a covenants violation.

It was also noted that several patios and balconies are in need of cleaning. Please take advantage of the spring weather and sweep/mop your patio or balcony, wash the patio/balcony glass, and clean any patio furniture you may have. In addition, remove any broken furniture or items not considered for outdoor use
