This 'Tranformers' doesn't have the touch

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

With "Transformers," Michael Bay has either made a big, dumb summer adventure for the little boy in all of us or the world's most expensive General Motors commercial.

The movie has some plotholes, hopefully a extended version on dvd will give us the anwsers to the things we are scratching our heads about. Other than that an a couple of realy bad Human cgi spots, not having Megatrons real voice, allthough
the 'allspark' isnt something "new" in transformers, it wanst explained good enough. But, when you think of all the good things with the movie, great battles, great action, and good old humor
that often resembles some of the humor
from the original seris. All the adds
cars are merly (i guess) the only way
they could realy get the money to do
somehting like this, and ofcourse, hopefully they will make the next two
(if they ever come out) even better.

The moive was realy fun, realy good
and brought back alot of memories.

this movie was assinine. It couldn't figure out if it was sci fi or comedy. Like a family film with dialouge including masterbation refferences. The action was done so fast you could not follow it. The plot is so thin you can barely believe it has a plot. At one point john turturro who is a great actor is reduced to being a parody of men in black and even reveals a superman logo with the initials of his secret agency. He looked like super tard. The most over rated actor on earth shyla labouf is the same character he is in every movie. A akward high school kid. When puberty hits his career is over. As for the rest of the cast John voight has officially hung it up with this craptacular preformance and as Always if anthony anderson is in the movie you know it sucks before seeing a preview. Meagan fox is the lone bright spot as she looks like a young hotter version of demi moore and as long as she is quiet and being pretty she is fine. The editor was non existant and it seemed as if I would become a victim of old age before the movie ended. This movie was a bad idea and I actually felt stupider after watching it. Speilberg and Michael Bay owe me 8 bucks and 3 hours of my life back.

The movie was light years away better than Spider-Man 3. Best Movie made this century. You would have to be crazy not to have loved the story line. You failed to see detail. I can tell you never saw the original cartoon.

David... when was the last time you enjoyed anything? On Golden Pond? As a member of the birth class of 70' I was well exposed to all forms of Transformers growing up. This, like some of the Marvel movies, was a great ride through a special time in our lives. No matter what was going on, we had our toys/games/comics/cartoons as an escape from whatever our reality was. This movie provides the same release for a few hours. Men and their toys as the saying goes... Can't wait for part 2

Ya know what...it doesn't matter what the reviews say. People will see this no matter what. Haters will see it to find out just how "bad" it is and what Bay "messed up." Others will see it just because of the hype surrounding it. Personally...I know going in that it'll have lots of things going boom. And that's not too bad for me.:-)

By the way...those of you who have a problem with the "plot," such as it is...do you know what the plot of any given episode of the show was? Decepticons try to either A: Create their own energon or B: Steal energon from the Autobots. The Autobots must then stop the Decepticons. That's it. Nothing special about it, and from what I've heard...that's pretty much the plot of the movie.

Your review sounds like someone trying to compare this movie to shakespeare. It isn't. But it is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time..it has comedy, pathos, a love story, action, adventure, and fantastic graphics. It rates a solid 5 stars out of five
It is also unpretentious, unlike the reviwer.
Mr. Germain, stop the bleeding and get your nose out of the air.....just enjoy the film for what it is!!!!!!!!!!

We're getting emotional as adults over a kid's movie????

The movie is for kids - so they can have one moment away from us. Let them enjoy the movie - if they are entertained - wasn't it worth it? If you weren't can't you enjoy being with them as they are?

Also - with respect to movie reviews - why would anyone read an adult review about a kid's movie? The critic isn't asking the children their opinion. Instead they are judging a movie with old tired eyes. Have you ever seen a happy / healthy movie critic?

We don't judge history with today's eyes and we don't listen to old movie critics about kid's movies.

Take a chance - the heck with the critics. Lets say the movie is bad - you know what - 9 ou of 10 chances our kids wouldn't complain one bit as most would likely be content with the adventure of the day.

That's pretty much all I have to say.

Saw it and was disappointed. The trailers all advertised a more serious, dark, developed, focused story. Instead, I was treated to an "oil & water" juxtaposition of a silly kid's movie spiced with adult humor & occasional moments of seriousness. The same old adolescent "nerd likes girl, nerd and girl are caught up in unusual circumstance, girl comes to appreciate nerd" story.

It was two movies, one for children and one for their parents, which could have been cut into two separate, more effective films. What was completely ignored between these two audiences was the true audience this film should have catered to: 30-year olds who were fans of the original transfoemers in the 80's.

David Germain has it right with his comment "it's sometimes hard to tell which 'bot is doing what".

Went with my son to the movie and we both loved it.The Transformers were my favorite part,it brought me back to when I was younger. My son is hoping for part 2 as am I.Mr Germain needs to stick to trying to impress people with his vocab he just learned from the dictionary, and for you "No way",I don't see how you could have left the movie feeling "stupider" as you put it?Sounds like to me you didn't go in there with the brightest of IQs.Movie critics suck!

This reviewer obviously never had A)a childhood B)taste. Don't listen to this gibberish, Tranformers delivered exactly what it should have. When Optimus Prime first, truly, appears and speaks I was eight years old all over again (I am 28 now).

The problem with movie reviews by critics is that they don't take into consideration the general publics demand and like of these summer action movies. I saw Transformers last night, and I loved it. It was an amazing movie, that made you feel for the characters as well as getting caught up with the story line. I am neither a little child nor a boy, and I fell in love with transformers. By far the best movie of the year!

as a reviewer you totally lick balls. Either we went and saw different movies or your just trying to say the cool thing at the right time and should really take the film for what it is, fun, action packed escapism.

I always find it funny how movie critics hate the movies that are actually good and love the movies that dull and boring. As a person that didn't "miss the 1980's", this production was the first one in twenty years to capture the essence and driving story of the original series while giving it a realism that the cartoon lacked. One thing that one could never grasp, with the exception of 1986's Transformers: The Movie, was that the Autobots and Decepticons were at war. Thus "Bay steadily hurling fireworks" was actually necessary as it honestly showed how ugly a war between giant, high-tech robot aliens from another planet with weapons beyond our armies wildest dream would rip this planet apart. In my personal opinion, this is one of the best summer movies I've ever seen. You, on the other hand, remind me of every movie critic I've ever heard

I agree with everyone on the fact that David is a douche and missed the point of this movie! It's awesome! I did feel a little old for it but it was a good movie! And David no one is going to see Transformers and look for an Oscar winning performance from fresh actors and CGI Transformers! I give your review 2 out of 5 stars.

Anyone who decides against watching this film as a result of "qualified movie critics" desperately needs to get a mind of his/her own.

This was a fun motion picture extravaganza and (like all blockbusters) has its flaws. Nevertheless, it is the epic movie that fulfills every Transformer fan and non-fan.

Although product placement is abound (eBay, GM), it never detracted from the film. Did this guy expect the most amazing robots in the universe (or "gloried can openers" as he so pompously refers to them) to assume the shape of Toyota Corollas, and Honda Accord Sedans?

Make up your own mind about this movie.
