I've gone to the concerts at the grand prix the last couple of years. Those crowds are scary to say the least. There doesnt seem to be enough security except for the front area were the stage is. Everyone usually starts pushing and trying to force their way to the front. Im glad police were there to control the crowd. ^5 LBPD. I'm sure that dumbass will think twice abought fighting the cops.

Was this a lackof planning or what? Most venues have capacity ratings. did the promoter oversell tickets? somone screwed up.

White males, alcohol, and fast cars = violence.

Can someone say, compensation.

The crowd is actually very diverse. Its more of an alcohol mixed with humans thing. Oh and bad planning will always hurt.

A Use of Force is never pretty. People who oppose these police actions need to get a life. That's what we pay them to do. Police are willing to risk their lives for everyone. Remember that, next time you complain about them.

Incidentally, the concert by Mexican singer Alex Syntek on Friday went without a hitch.

The promoter of this event should be held responsible for this out burst. Why are they selling more tickets than the event can safely hold. Besides Punkers always look for trouble. Thank God this weekend is over.

Here is the deal...

The promotor did not oversell the event. The problem is that anyone with tickets to the Grand Prix on Saturday could attend the Pennywise concert. So, you have about 60,000 people with tickets for an area that could only hold about 5,000 people.

When I was up there it was already standing room only. When I squeezed through the crowd and outside it was right before the riot broke out. And when I got across Ocean Blvd. when things started really getting out of hand. I got out of the area as quickly as I could because I was not going to be stuck down there.

That was the only blimish for the whole Grand Prix weekend. What they need to do next year is this. If you want to goto the races only you pay this price. If you want to goto the race and the concert then pay alittle extra for both. If you want to goto the concert only then sell tickets at another price. Therefore the people that want to goto the races can go and so on for everyone else.

thanks. that's makes more sense. the story reads as if more than 800 concert ticket holders got turned away.

Bad incident. But blame the promoters. Why was the event over-sold? Didn't the promoters confer with the fire department or whomever knows the property about the total capacity?
I hope those ticket holders who didn't get in get their money back. In this day and age of computers, there's is no excuse for over-selling or over-booking (like on air flights).

Hey witness, I saw the whole chain of events. I heard the police give two dispersal orders and several people from the crowd throwing bottles and trash at not only the police, but staff pro. The crowd overtook the entire intersection of Ocean Blvd and Long Beach Blvd. It was pretty scary. Unfortunately for you, I thought that staff pro and the police were extremely restrained during the ordeal. Let me know if you want any more information.
