I am a Cocker rescuer in Northern CA. I saw your lovely memorial to Sophie. I am so sorry for your loss, I know just how hard that is.
I want to help in anyway to stop puppy mills. Your show brought alot of awareness to this horror, and I thank you for airing this show.

I was so moved by your show on Puppy Mills. I have wondered, as a rescuer and dog lover, HOW to help stop this horror. I would gladly take in a retired breeder, too. I don't know how.

Dear Oprah

I know that my concern may not be as important as some of the others, but it is one that I feel need to be address. You see we should be concern about how the Department of Veterans Affairs treats our veterans, but we should be just as concern about how this Agency discriminates against black female employees. I am one of those females and I have met so many others. Please at least give this some consideration.

Until I was middle-aged, I suffered periodic episodes of devastating depression so severe that, on several occasions, I spent weeks or months hospitalized. While my mind was sometimes filled with hopelessness and despair, I was very good at “faking it” and appearing to lead an undistinguished but normal life. No one knew the “demons” with which I was often compelled to live.

In 1982, I hit “rock bottom”. In desperation, I went to a different psychiatrist, who convinced me to enter, once again, a psychiatric hospital. That experience changed my life. Ever since 1969, when I was 26, I had been on a variety of anti-depressants, some of which helped for awhile but none of which had a long term effect. My psychiatrist put me on a combination of medications that, after a period to “kick in”, relieved me, hopefully, once and for all, of periodic depression. Now, at 64, I have lived approximately 25 years depression free.

I did not write my book for fame, glory, or financial gain. There are, perhaps, millions of people in this country suffering some degree of depression. Most Americans know someone who is depression’s victim. When I was periodically depressed all those years, the worst aspect was the belief that depression was my destiny for the rest of my life. Suicide often crept into my thoughts. I wrote this book to give people suffering from depression the one thing I never had all those years, HOPE that someday they might lead a normal life.

Actually I need my story to be as a top secret between you and me.

My name is khaled and I'm from Jordan. And my age is 31 years old.

I'm working now in united Arab emirates UAE in Dubai and I'm a married with a nice young girl 27 years old. And she is staying at home after she used to work in Amman, Jordan. For more than 4 years.

I will till some details before I tell you the main problem.

I used to work in Amman in a big insurance company which the general manager for this company is my cousin. I was a hard worker and I used to handle all the work by my self a lone for 2 years. In this period I knew my wife and it become a good love story between us , since I decide me and here to get married but first to engaged after our parents agreed since the life is very tough in the meddle east . And I decide me and her to work together on our future and to build our own life step by step.

But actually it was too hard to manage all that by our self's depends on our small salary which was for both 400 $ monthly. So I decide to leave the country to find anther place in gulf so we can get married.

In fact I found a way to get out and to reach a good work in Dubai since my cousin refused to help me to raise my salary and since he knows that I deserve the rice but he used to promises me all the time for nothing. Then I decide to leave him .and you know what, he get mad we he heard that I will resign.

After I reach the new work in Dubai and after one year I get back to Jordan to get married but how!!! I took a loan so I can spend on the marriage expenses.

The life is very hard in Dubai. The traffic is too bad and it's too hard to live in Dubai. so I rent a small house (one bed room) in sharjah for 10000 $ yearly.

I bring my wife to live with me here since last October.

Life in begin was nice but now it's too bad.

She get sick and her mentality become worse and as you know this will effect on me directly

And sine this begins of this year up to now we live in a hell.

She cannot used to live her and I cannot used to be sad and mad all the time.

Specially we both didn’t like this country.

We both like to real natural. This country is a big lie since every thing is beautiful but it's not real like our nature in Jordan. This issue effect on us both.

But what to do?!!! We tried to get back to Jordan but we are facing a big problem.(The loan)

Its 300,000 UAE which equal 83000$. I tried to get this amount in many ways but I cannot. I subscribe in many competition to win any near amount but no luck.

I thinking all the days how to solve this issue and to get beck to Jordan with my tiered wife but no use until I see your program on the TV and I saw how much that your are generous and have a big heart. So I decide to send you this message. Hoping that you can help me in this personal issue.

Actually if will help, know that you will help my poor wife...

If possible to borrow me this amount then you make it as a small payment as a monthly premium.

Actually I tried to do the same with the bank but the bank is asking for 1000$ monthly payment. And since the salaries are not high in Jordan I cannot pay this amount.

Dear Oprah:

I am a Single Mom (45) to a 6 year old daughter. I have never asked anyone for help, but I am struggling right now and I need someone to hear me. You probably wont even see this, but it helps just to right it down. Throughout my life I have done what I have supposed to do. I have worked and I use to consider myself as middle income. The salary may still be the same, but the situation has become dire. I have always helped my family when they needed my help, and I foolishly, gave when I should not have. Now a car breakdown, and some unexpected medical expenses have left me without my backup resources. My family of course are still looking to me for assistance, so going to them is useless. I now have over draft fee's, returned checks, no way to get school supplies, no way to pay the rent, and stress stress stress. I hold on that my faith in God will see me thru this.

I am a woman with a problem.
I was watching your show (Oprah Show) on "Great American Haircuts" and everything was very nice. You said not quoting word for word but, A womans hair is her glory or Womans hair is our crown. I remember hearing that when I was growing up, and it does say something like that in the Bible. BUT,
what about women that have lost their glory, their crown and would love to even have a tiara. Some ware tiaras without the beautiful stones to keep the emphasis off the top of the hair. How can they stay feeling beautiful?
Yes, I am one of lose women. I work in an elementary school and sometime children are really straight forward, and it does hurt. Hope their is a solution for women like us!
