You should know a lot of actresses use their own bodies, Nicole included. my point is that it's uneccessary. i don't go around in public (nor do you, i hope)'building intmacy' with my partner to 'explain' to others the relationship that we have. these scenesare include to put bums on seats - certainly not for the reason of 'adding expLanation' to the story. MOST of the public don't need to see these explanations; a lot (like you?) WANT to. next, we'll be having to watch people going to the toilet because it 'adds explanation' to the story. oh, i forgot! nicole kidman has ALREADY done that in 'eyes wide shut'lol. i've never seen anyone piss or wipe themselves so elegantly in my life!(i'm a nurse) oh yeah - it's all so REALISTIC. LMAO!!... come to think of it, i'm not sure that peoples love making is usually so posed and graceful, streamlined and choreographed in real life. there's usually a fart or 2, an awkward limb or 2, a fumble or mishap of SOME kind. oh, yeah - it's all so 'realistic' in movies! lmao. IMO, anyone who likes to watch 'the explanation' of love making has got a hell of a long way to go to become a 'Mature' adult THEMSELVES. I suggest YOU grow up.

BTW, i saw 'hair' on the stage some decades ago. and they dared to have a nude scene. i swear we all went to see it, just so we might see a few nude bodies. they were nude alright! but the lighting was so dim for that scene that the audience couln't see a thing! but it was all 'in the name of art' B.S.- it was all in the name of selling tickets - and that's exactly what it did!

Sure in some films sex scenes are used to sell it (American Pie amongst all the other teen movies out there), but not really always. It was a bit of a blanket statement what you said earlier. Equating it to having sex in public is sort of missing the point as the actors are usually playing characters, characters who are usually doing it in private. The way a couple has sex can tell you a lot about the characters. Sometimes it may convey intimacy, other times it can be more lustful. It can even show a lack of connection between a couple. Anyway what's the big deal? It's just a little nudity.

It's clearly meant to be more about privacy than morality. It may sacrifice their art very slightly, but that is their choice.

I know i sound like an old prude; but i'm not, really!

I blame the consumers. I mean if you're going to see a film for a few seconds of nipple you're getting shit value for money. There is plenty of free porn around for that. As for an example of a sex scene that played an important part in the plot - Fur meets that description

O.K., thanks for the tip.(fur) i'll get to it, somehow. no, i'm not 'hung up' about seeing an erect wang on the screen (i found it quite laughable actually (not the wang, the SCENE) it was all so pointless (not the wang, the SCENE) IMO. like we're supposed to lurch into long D&Ms about this stark, F.F. glimpse of 'throbbing manhood' nothing subtle or artistic about it, just a wang -and not an exceptionally attractive one at that, but i digress. did you see this movie? it was really quite beautiful, well paced, rich, but i'm afraid the elongated (boring!!) sex scenes reduced it to a poor excuse for soft porn; just purile alsoran stuff...a real shame. I think that it was meant to be 'artistic'. but D.H. would REALLY have got his rocks off!(i know the man seated in front of us did - we could hear his heavy breathing from our seats)- pathetic, really. oh well, i guess he was lonely or kinky or SOMETHING....maybe asthmatic! yeah, THAT would be it!

A person who poops and piddles and eats, as a part of their 'everyday existence'. does THAT have to be spelt out, too? 'BUILDING intimacy'....lol. it's more like 'building seat sales', to me!

Nicole Kidman remains on her way up to greater achievments as an actress. She is a stunningly beautiful woman with a lovely voice and lovely face and body. She is about as perfect as a woman can be and yet still the human with flaws and quirks. She is honest about who she is. I love her movies and her great talent to make each of her characters believable and engaging. Now, if she would only put out an album of her singing with great videos.
