I'm not offended. I appreciate your input even if I disagree with some of it.

A parent always feels some guilt for what happens to her child. That's a normal emotion.

I'm not "taking it out on homosexuality". Homosexuals did abuse my son; it was two married men with children of their own, one a family friend(we thought) and the other, my son's employer. Neither were prosecuted in spite of the pressure I put on the authorities.(I lost a lot of respect for authority as a result)

I am so sorry about your experience. Child molesters are the scum of society and should be locked up permanently.

A personal note: Last week one of the molesters died. My family and I felt no joy at his demise; instead, we found it sad because he may have died lost. To those who aren't Christian, that will sound crazy; but a lost soul is a terrible thing.

Logan, don't get offended, but I have a theory:
You blame yourself for your son's molestation, and so are taking it out on homosexuality. You rail against it because you blame yourself for not being able to protect your son.
Am I getting close?
I've studied both psychology and sociology, and while I don't have a degree, I was a very good student. This is probably what any psychiatrist would tell you.
And as for your comment of "they don't know if it's right or wrong" - I can tell you from experience that is NOT true. I was three, and I KNEW it was wrong. Children know when they are beiing hurt, and they KNOW it is wrong.
Those men did not make your son gay. They abused him, and they should be lined up against a brick wall and ass-raped by a very large San Quintin inmate, before being shot in the back of the head -
But they did not make your son gay.

That's really terrible that the authorities wouldn't do anything.

It's very typical that homosexuals who are living a lie as a heterosexual and high risk for molesting children. This is because if they are pedophilies their repressed sexuality is an aggravating factor for pedophilia. Repressed sexuality can also be a direct cause of ephebophilia. Then the fact that they're living in a state of denial with highly compartmentalized minds makes them very prone to not realizing what horrible deeds they're actually capable of.

I didn't say they were the same. I disagree that if "a child who is molested is gay" that means he was born that way. I'm aware of the psychology of it but the fact is that behavior is learned. When a boy is forced into a homosexual relationship for a long period of time, he can and usually does learn to adapt to that behavior. It happens often. <quoted text>
Point of interest here Logan,

You insist that being gay is a learned behavior. So, I was just wondering how would a young woman “learn” to be a lesbian? Does she have to be seduced by another lesbian? How about if she is molested as a young girl by her father/brother/uncle? What would she learn from that experience?

Something you fail to understand or refuse to understand is that an attraction and falling in love have nothing to do with gender. It’s not something you “learn”. It’s something that happens. If you can’t accept that, then I feel sorry for your son. He must be horribly conflicted having a parent like you to look to for guidance.

Uh, no. I argued that the Bible supported my view on abortion. My sexual orientation was not the question and you're daft if you think that you can derive anything about my lifestyle from my sexual orientation.

If you think that the Bible says something about my "lifestyle," I'd love to hear it.

Thank you. Sometimes there's little justice in life.

I'm impressed with your knowledge. You have an excellent understanding of how the minds of pedophiles work. I do agree that repressed sexuality can lead to ephebophilia. Your comment about highly compartmentalized minds is accurate and interesting. Pedophiles have a talent for justifying in their own minds that what they're doing is not bad. One I counseled after he was arrested stated to me that he was only expressing his love for his victims. He tried to convince himself and me that he cared for them. However, on the other hand, he also recognized he had a serious problem. He stated that he knew he was different when he was a teenager and felt attracted to little boys. He actually sought help from school counselors and his parents but no one did anything; so here he was, 30 years later, facing prison. The number of children he had molested was so high it sickened me; and perhaps all this could have been prevented with some psychiatric help. It's my belief pedophilia can't be cured; yet I’ve often wondered if he might have been an exception.

MCCASKILL:... that is not good.

STEPHANOPOULOS:... because Carly Fiorina is shaking her head there.

FIORINA: Those are ridiculous charges, point one. But I think the important point here is that this is what the Democratic Party has done for years. It has tried to hold women hostage by frightening them on issues such as reproductive rights, Rove v. Wade.

American women in this country will not be held hostage by the politics of fear on Roe v. Wade anymore. I know more many, many pro- choice women who are pro-McCain.

And if we want to talk about equal pay for equal work, I think this once again is an example of John McCain walks the walk and Barack Obama talks the talk.

And all you have to do is look inside their two Senate offices and assess how are women paid relative to men.

In John McCain ’s office, women are paid more.

In Barack Obama ’s office, women are paid less. That’s a fact.

<quoted text>
It actually can be cured to some extent. Most pedophiles do at least have some attraction for adults and pedophiles who are active in therapy can show through testing that their attraction for adults is increasing and their attraction to children fades.

That's really sad that he tried to get help and found none. If someone had helped him it might have prevented a lot of kids from being harmed. Society has a lot of work to do in this area. I think a lot of it could be prevented.
