Romney's pants on fire

May 28, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Washington Post

There are those who distort the truth. And then there's Mitt Romney. Every political campaign exaggerates and dissembles.

Bishoprick Romney's Race Baiting Campaign...he is trying to start a race war AND stop talking about Bain and offshoring and outsourcing and tax dodging and draft dodging, etc.

With Smut Romney it is now all about Obama's RACE.

" That portends a campaign season in which current racial tensions in American culture will be ratcheted up, all for the benefit of the ambitions of a very rich man who doesn't think Americans have a right to know how a potential president made his money.(Well, at least not if that potential president is him.)

It's craven. It's nasty. And in some ways, it's worse than the utterances of the late Georgia governor Lester Maddox or the late Alabama governor George Wallace, because of the built-in feature of plausible deniability." AN

Republican TEA Patriot wrote:
In Mass., Romney raised taxes, fees
Hot on the heels of his eight-vote Iowa-caucus landslide, Willard Mitt Romney is crisscrossing New Hampshire before Tuesday's key primary. Romney is masquerading as a limited-government, free-market executive from next-door Massachusetts. From the Golden Gate to the Granite State, voters should greet Romney's impersonation with a quarry full of skepticism.
In fact, Romney increased taxes by $309 million, mainly on corporations. These tax hikes, described by Romney apologists as loophole closures, totaled $128 million in 2003,$95.5 in 2004, and $85 million in 2005. That final year, Romney proposed $170 million in higher business taxes, the Boston Globe reports. However, the Bay State's liberal, Democratic legislature balked and only approved an $85 million increase.
Tax rates on many corporations almost doubled because of legislation supported by Romney, Boston Science Corporation chairman Peter Nicholas explained in Jan. 6, 2008's Boston Herald. Also, from 5.3 to 9.8 percent, Romney raised the tax on subchapter S corporations owned by business trusts, an 85 percent hike. Romney went further than any other governor in trying to wring money out of corporations, the Council on State Taxation's Joseph Crosby complained.
Romney also created or increased fees by $432 million. He was not dragooned into this by greedy Democratic lawmakers; Romney himself proposed these items. In 2003 alone, Romney concocted or boosted 88 fees. Romney charged more for marriage licenses (from $6 to $12), gun registrations (from $25 to $75), a used-car sales tax ($10 million), gasoline deliveries ($60 million), real-estate transfers ($175 million), and more. Particularly obnoxious was Romney's $10 fee per Certificate of Blindness. Romney also billed blind people $15 each for discount-travel ID cards.

Romney is a GREAT American Man. We are all so fortunate that he is willing to take on Obama on our behalf. Thank You Sir!!!!

You are so right that our kids deserve a shot at a decent American future. The whole East German Soviet Obama vision for America just cannot be all we leave to our kids.

Bishoprick Romney starting a race war.

""Is Mitt Romney a Race Baiting Felon?(Possibly!)

....fter being booed by an unimpressed crowd at the NAACP convention yesterday, Presidential candidate Mitt Romney turned around and tried to use those boos to get his rich white friends to give him more money at a fundraiser.

"Support my run for President! Black people hate me!" And less than twenty-four hours after that, it's been revealed that Mitt Romney probably lied about when he left Bain Capital on financial disclosure documents, which wouldn't be that big of a deal if falsifying information on financial disclosure documents wasn't a felony." "By and large, the tax filings tell you nothing you don’t already know. But the refusal to release them is a different matter. In Romney’s case, this is his one and only stand on principle, an odd example of political bravery.

He has flipped on abortion, gun control and, of course, health-insurance reform, his signature achievement as governor of Massachusetts. But not on releasing his taxes. Others have been recalcitrant. Ronald Reagan didn’t want to do it (he charged his daughter Maureen interest on a loan) but ultimately did.

In general, presidential and vice presidential candidates have released their returns. Maybe this was because most of them were public servants whose salaries were already known and whose wealth was modest. Others, though, were persons of considerable wealth — Lloyd Bentsen, John Kerry, John Edwards — who laid it all out on the table.(I wonder if Edwards, if he still had presidential prospects, would have deducted his latest child.)

It’s impossible to know what Romney is not revealing. But it is instructive to contrast him to his father, George, who was an auto executive and governor of Michigan. When George Romney ran for president in 1968, he released 12 years of income tax returns. But he was essentially salaried — his remuneration set either by statute or by a board of directors — and so really he was divulging little.

Maybe more important, he actually made something (cars) or did something (governed). His son not only manufactured nothing but earned his wealth the new way — by financial manipulation, leveraging and such. On paper, it could look ugly."

WP

So Bishoprick Romney's only UNWAVERING STANCE is on not releasing more years of his tax returns?

I will betcha there is more to this than that. I will betcha there are questionable and highly unethical tax deductions and financial manipulations that might get a pass for a private citizen but not for a man who is desperately trying to become POTUS.

$77,000 tax deduction for his 1/3rd portion of a dressage horse, a pet? Tax deductions for a pet?

Tax returns in conjunction with his lying or committing of felonies over Bain are more serious than prior ones from candidates. It is the combination that is so interesting and highly questionable.

If Romney is not a criminal felon, why did he apply for amnesty for hiding taxable income in off shore accounts? It is an open admission he is a criminal, refusing to pay taxes on the millions he withdraws from American's pensions.

As to race baiting, what non-Anglo-Saxon would disagree?

He has $100M in a personal IRA. That is certainly a curiosity.

Did he place shares of stock in his personal IRA that were greatly undervalued? How did he do it?

You're an idiot.

A "rollover" occurs when you use your IRA as a recepticle for your 401k or other "qualified" plan balance. 401(k) limits are much higher than IRAs, and defined benefits sometimes use an actuarial computation that allows individuals to exceed that. Also companies can match contributions based on profits as long as they give the same percentage match to all. If he's had the money well invested over the last few decades, that means his original investment may have increased over 10 times depending on the rate of return, growing tax-deferred.

The real story here is that it's a ticking tax bomb. If he and Ann died tomorrow, his estate would lose 50 - 90 % of it depending on the extent of his estate plan, which I'm sure is extensive. All of it is pre-tax, so it comes out at ordinary income tax which is 39% federal plus state income tax. Then it would get hit with a 55% federal estate tax. Adios IRA.

He's probably bought a massive insurance policy inside a trust he doesn't manage to pay the onerous tax bill.

Actually Bishoprick Romney, we all know EXACTLY what you meant to say. You are a childish little man and an embarrassment to our country.

"Earlier in the day, Romney’s campaign said the quote did not reflect Romney’s or the campaign’s thoughts.

It came, however, after Romney and his surrogates have repeatedly described the president’s actions and administration as foreign in references that appeared to play on discredited accusations that he was not born in America." latimes

Hey Bishoprick, you and your wife are racist bigots pure and simple. If it fires up your lower class white male base to be a birther then that is what you will jump to do.

Own up to your moral and ethical failings instead of blaming others as you always do.

Ticking tax bomb? Nonsense. On top of the favorable tax treatment of inherited IRAs, Bishoprick Romney pays a sub 14% TAX RATE TO BEGIN WITH.

He is miles ahead already AND he one of his number one policy priorities is to ELIMINATE THE ESTATE TAX. Bishoprick Romney is concerned about only one thing: to be POTUS to help himself and his family amass and keep as much money as is humanly possible.

That is it. That is the entirety of the Romney vision for the USA...a giant piggyback for him to raid. It is despicable and it is true.

"Under current rules, heirs get to stretch withdrawals from an inherited IRA across their own life expectancies, meaning the assets could potentially increase in value, tax-deferred, for decades.

...Many wealthier adult children forget they can disclaim an inherited IRA and pass it along to their children—possibly creating tax-deferred growth for decades" wsj

So much jealousy of those who are more successful than you are.

If you spent as much time taking steps to further yourself as you do posting inane opinions in Topix, you might not have as much to be jealous about. However as a typical liberal you’re just another taker, angry that others have achieved the success and financial freedom that will always escape you, do to your ignorance.

So much scumbuckery from Republithugs supporting a filthy corporate raider who outsourced jobs, profited from abortion, gleefully piled massive debt onto companies just to raid the cash and watch the companies fail.

The GOPOX has reached a new low with Bishoprick Romney.

If the piece of sludge is so proud of his accomplishments then why is he hiding his business dealings and tax returns and timeline from the sanitizing light of day? Why?

You may be proud of what he did out of some pathetic need to hero worship a multimillionaire corporate raider and job destroyer (sad for you) who would sooner pee on your mother then have you over for lunch but it is quite obvious that Bishoprick Romney is NOT PROUD.

Jesus Christ Almighty you are such a kowtowing schmoo. Why don't you lick his magic underwear clean and call it a job well done.

Thanks for demonstrating your lack of intellect and maturity.

When it takes ad hominem attacks and childish pejoratives to make your point, you've done nothing but show that you have no point.

I don’t worship Romney nor do I envy him for his success, as I have achieved my own success and have no reason to be jealous of another person. Do I have near the wealth that Romney has,…. Not even a fraction …. But I have enough that I carry my own weight in this world. Unlike the liberals and Obama drones who are nothing more than social parasites and moochers, contributing little but demanding much.

It’s is amusing to watch the losers in this country fret and worry that should Romney get elected their free ride is over and that they will either have to carry their weight or perish.
